You are not a true Volunteer. Why don't you go jump on the band wagon of some other team. WE ARE REBUILDING OUR TEAM RIGHT NOW. It is hard to beat a top 10 team when you go 7-5, and are unranked. Our worst lost, by the way, was to Wyoming a year a go.

D. Moore catches that long ball for 6 and it is a 6 point game in the 4th. The lack of depth and talent on D started to show when they started to pound the ball. Game just got out of hand at the end. Oh well, time to start recruiting!

We were absolutely out coached! They did have better players. Good coaches normally find a way to compete against better teams. Having said that, we were two plays away from only being down 3 points midway through the 3rd quarter. The play before the half was inexcusible and so was the dropped pass by Moore. The teams attitude would have been much better had those two plays not occured. I still think we would have lost though.

Yeah i had forgot all about that game, i can remember watching wrestling on tv, and "the king" lawler or however you spell it made a mention during the broadcast about underdogs winning...that has to be one of the worst games ever

After watching the game, Va Tech is better than us. It would have taken a great game for UT to have a chance to win, and we didn't play a great game. In fact, we were very fortunate not to have been out of it by halftime.

Sometimes, you just play somebody who is better, and last night was a good example of that. The entire point of bringing in Kiffin and Co. was to stop that from happening so often, and I think they will, but it is unrealistic to think they could have done that with one recruiting class.

Yes, they did. They lost by a FG to a UNC team that is better than Auburn or UCLA. That doesn't change anything about the fact that the 11 guys they had on the field, as a group, were better than the 11 guys we had on the field.

I'm not sure embarrassed is the right word. I'm more disappointed in the lack of perspective in some of these posts. We lost to a team that was better all season. They were higher ranked. Bettors favored them. It isn't cliff-diving time because when we met them on the field they whipped us.

Yeah,I've been embarrassed a couple of times over the last 30 yrs,but last night wasn't one of them.We just don't have the talent we need at this point to take it to the next level.Some fans where just being delusional.I feel blessed we did as well as we did.

I'm pumped for next year!!!

"They" or "We"....make up your mind, man.

Sometimes a team is outmanned or has lesser talent. The coach works with what he has.

UT is down 23 scholarship players.... 63 scholarship players pretty much on par with a D2 team.

VT is well coached. They have a full boat of players that they've recruited, developed, and coached up.

The critical difference in this game was not coaching or effort. It was nothing more nor less than quality depth of talent. The talent disparity was nowhere more apparent than UT's OL vs VT's DL. The game was won and lost there. Still without the Moore drop, its a game.

This coaching staff has kept this team in games all year when maybe they shouldn't have been.

CLK called a TO with the game out of reach and that's when they blitzed. I don't have a problem with either call and "class" isn't in question for either staff over the way that was played.

Are you kidding?

I have been a vol fan for only years. I went there for my masters degree starting in 2004, and even in that short time I can remember many more embarrassing losses than this.

South Carolina Last Year - dominated by a less talented team
UGA last Year - completely dominated
Alabama Last Year - completely dominated
Wyoming Last Year - no excuse for that
Notre Dame at home in 04 - We had WAY more talent than them... we just got out coached
Auburn at home in 04 - dominated from start to finish
UGA at home in 05 - dominated from start to finish
Vandy at home in 05- this was the worst for me
Florida in 07 - when the team openly quit at the end
Florida in 08 - getting waxed in knoxville AGAIN
Ole Miss this year - No answer for McCulster


Those are just the ones that I remember

Anyone who thinks last night was an embarrassment is just plain silly. Virginia Tech is a better team than Tennessee. They have guys on their second team who could start for us right now.

North Texas State was an embarrassment. Memphis was an embarrassment. That Peach Bowl loss to Maryland was an embarrassment (because UT laid down). Last night was a rebuilding team that played over its head to earn a bowl spot against a top-15 team (that's really better than that), and got beat.

Wyoming on homecoming is a good start, how bout the 59-20 beat down by florida? maybe the beating we took from bama at home? what's stupid is this thread.

we just could not hang on in the 2nd half ,as far as most embarrising memphis beating the vols when peyton played ,but im going with basketball melvin turpin scored points in droves as uk beat the vols by 50 or 60 in sec tourney

An AL team that list to ULM beat us 41-17. This happened not long after 59-20. Those were embarrassing.
