Most Disappointing Player Performance

I don't want to call out individuals but these are my "generalities"

DB's can't tackle
LB's are SLOW
DL can't get off blocks

WR's can NOT catch
QB has no composure

other than that........ we are in good shape

you left out that we have kickers who cant kick

Without the slightest hesitation its Tyler Bray. When he was a freshman I thought we had found a great one. I honestly believe he has regressed. He cannot lead, doesn't make great decisions and panics. He has the tools but its going to take a lot for him to turn the corner IMO.

How about laying off the players and focus on the ones putting then in bad position or calling the plays that my 4 year old could game plan against.

I am all for getting Dooley out but at least show these kids some respect.

Are you telling me that the hands that Hunter has it's coaching that causes him to drop passes?

No the coaches haven't dropped a pass, but across the board, no player on our team this year has been coached up to another level. These players do not believe they can make big plays or win. That is coaching.

Personally, I squirm when I see people criticize players. When they commit out of high school they get a big fat BOOM from posters on this board. When they fail to live up to expectations they are anathema. It just makes me uncomfortable to denounce a 19 or 20 year old who is working so hard and suffering so much. The coaches are fair game, but I beseech you good people of Volnation, lay off the players.

Maggit is hurt.

Hunter has gone full Kelley Washington though. So he gets my vote.

Please explain in what way Hunter has gone Kelley Washington. Hunter is healthy but playing scared and can't catch a cold. Washington was a pain in the ass his freshman year but also basically carried the team by himself. He should have went pro then but decided to come back. He was injured preseason and again in the Georgia game. His injuries were obviously legit since he had mid season surgery to fuse two vertebrae in his neck.

Hunter is coming off knee surgery and its clear he has not been himself this year. Is it disappointing he has had some big drops, sure, but I respect the hell out of him putting the work in to even be on the field this year and doing half of what he has.

I get where you are coming from and they are young adults. However, they chose to play for a college football team watched by millions. Most have dreams of playing in the NFL. The spotlight comes with the territory and college is the learning place before you are thrown to the wolves in the league.

Also, I agree when I see people bash and tear down players, not only on this board but in the media. However, this thread has been fairly tame towards players. A lot of guys had high expectations this year (Bray, Hunter, Maggitt, Wagner) and have just not played to those expectations.

So a Jr in College "reciever" needs a coach to TEACH them to catch a football..

Plus they are so thin skinned and emotionally unstable that it would make him cry to read on a message board that he has been "dissapointing" this year?

If this is the case they don't need a coach they need a couch and someone asking them to "tell me about your childhood."

I'd say the O-line. These guys are totally huge football players. What, like 6'6" & 330 lbs & 6'5" & 325 lbs. They can't open up holes big enough for our little ol' 5'8" 170 lb running back DY. The running game has shown much improvement over last year but I expected more this year out of this group than what they are doing. Pass blocking is an A. I guess they are too big & slow when the run blocking plays are called...JMHO on the question of player performance. :hi:

Great football coaches are great motivators and get the most out of their players. The get their players focused, ready and in position to win. They are able to get players to rise above adversity. What our team does is hit adversity, throw their hands up looking for a penalty flag, hang their head and walk off the field. Not defending individual bad plays by players, but good coaches control their teams.

Which is the title of the thread, right? Nobody is bashing anybody, just disappointed in some performances thus far.
