Most Beautiful SEC Campus Rankings

Tennessee is the ugliest campus in the SEC, and it's not even a discussion.

I agree. The strip is awful. The buildings are ugly. There is no campus cohesiveness nor overall planning.

Neyland is beautiful!!!!

Every time I go to a road game I come home and realize how bad our campus sucks.

he's right

if knoxville cleaned up cumberland it would be different.

we wouldn't have the best campus, but it certainly wouldn't have such a bad reputation.

not to mention half the campus looks like it was built during a financial boom in the 70's-80's. I feel like I should see Johnny 5 rolling around campus.

Was he just bored? Why even make a list when you haven't been to every campus, or have just seen one while passing through?
I've been to six campus in the SEC, and six in the ACC. Maybe I should make a list of most beautiful campuses in the nation.

Have you been to Wake Forest or Chapel Hill? Those are some beautiful campus's. Knowing what I now know about business and life after college, I would easily pick Wake Forest over UT if I had an offer from both like Q Davis does. One year at Wake is almost $50k. Football tradition means nothing in most job interviews.

I love The Tennessee campus but Aggieland really does have a gorgeous campus in the country. The people are also very friendly and inviting.

Even though Starkville is a dump, the Miss. St. campus isn't all that bad. Landscaping is one of their most popular majors, and you can tell it. The grass on campus looks like a golf course. The buildings themselves aren't that impressive, but I would put them on par with other places.

I feel like UGA as a whole is way overrated. Their campus/stadium was one of the ****tiest places I've been - way overhyped. Vandy has also, for some reason, been way overrated. Sure, Nashville is awesome, and Vandy looks traditional... but it doesn't compare to Ole Miss/UF/Bama, and honestly if you were strictly looking from the steps of the library on Volunteer towards the stadium, it doesn't compare to that either - that's the best view of UT outside of the hill itself. And before some wise ass says anything, I toured Vandy in late November for their MBA program, I've seen the whole campus - nothing special.

UF's campus was beautiful, and game day in Tuscaloosa was great - the quad was incredible.

Wish we had an antebellum style old south campus. Our modern look doesn't do anything for me. Its a salad bowl of old buildings mixed with state of the art buildings

LSU at number 2? It is in a swamp for gods sake...

Maybe you should actually come visit LSU. :hi:
I went to LSU (OP ranked it 3, not 2) a couple of years ago and noticed many of the buildings looked like a 60 year old middle school buildings. My wife and I remarked it was the worst of the SEC campuses we had been to. (All of them, btw)

Ole Miss in my opinion is the best. Alabama is up there as well. Those two may look better because of the absolute desolation and trash one drives thru to get there.

The last time I visited UT's campus in Knoxville was in the fifties. My memories of it then were very nice. I was just a 12 years old. Sounds like it has gone south since then from reading the comments.:unsure:

It may not be perfect, but it's still nice. Some of these complaints are ridiculous. It simply has some seriously steep competition in the SEC.

While our buildings are far from antebellum old south, they are also just as far from modern. The University claims they are going for a Gothic University look and they have failed miserably. I actually would prefer if the University didn't commit to one specific style but rather mix it up a little, it would give the campus a unique feel throughout.

The biggest problem I have is the awful brick colors throughout campus. They don't match from building to building and this degrades the campus visually IMO. The second biggest problem is the lack of complimenting the river. Not one building on campus takes advantage of the rivers location next to the campus. Come to think of it the entire city of Knoxville basically completely ignores the river. This could be an absolutely amazing addition to the University and its students but it is still not being addressed in the new master plan, which is a disgrace in all honesty. Thirdly, the campus is way too divided by roads with not many dedicated spaces for only pedestrians. This is being addressed in the master plan which is nice to see.

Overall the 50 year master plan for campus has some very nice features and should make campus much better. There are still some glaring issues from my viewpoint that should be addressed throughout the years however. Hopefully the University realizes this and actually gets some good planners to fix them and please please please get an actual architect/planner as the head of the master plan committee.

Not sure I'd put Vandy at #1. But there is no doubt that MSU is dead last. Never been to A&M or Missouri, but if either have a worse campus than MSU, they need to nuke it and start over.

Tearing down the spam can, UC, Acconda, and architecture buildings would make a world of difference. Those are atrocious. They already have plans for a new UC I hear. Haslam Business Building is awesome. The buildings on the hill I think are the nicest looking part of campus. I like the traditional look. In my opinion there is no better looking stadium than Neyland after those renovations. And for some reason I just cannot stand the library. Looks like legos to me. Still wouldn't wanna be at any other school though.

The Art/Architecture building is the best building on campus. I like it in itself, but even if you don't, it still is one of the very few buildings that breaks up the monotony of the campus. I am not sure why almost every building on campus is some close variant of red brick - and why it is all standard-fare architecture. Its is the only campus - outside of more commuter orientated and/or "secondary"-type institutions - where there is such a lack of distinction between old buildings and newer buildings.

The campus is also hurt by the fact that while it is in an urban environment it has (or had) enough space where there apparently wasn't a belief that buildings needed to be built close together. That is changing as more buildings go up, but the campus clearly lacks, for the most part, those areas that really feel like a major academic campus.

But really, outside of Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, Georgia, and maybe Kentucky the rest of the SEC campuses are not really all that much better than Tennessee.

Plus, Tennessee really has potential. If we can just get some variety of style with teh buildings, and I think the campus should be more geared towards the river than it currently is.

If I can somehow find a way to take pictures of the campus and the "scenery" and post them on here then I'm sure I can sway a few opinions to Ole Miss ha.

On a scale of 1-10 Ole Miss would score a 10.

-10 for proximity to Memphis though. I value my life too much.

Ole Miss #1 and it's not even close.

UT is pretty accurate IMO. Your bottom 4 are spot on.

UGA's campus is very nice.

I am with you. Granted I haven't visited every campus, but Ole Miss is quite beautiful and I loved UGA's campus. Of course, I am very biased for Rocky Top...and to me it has more to do w/the area around campus (East Tennessee is one of the most beautiful places on the planet...again, I am a homer).
