You know General Neyland has a few maxims (certain guiding principles of law and jurisprudence) that the players recited quite often, not too sure they were really thought much of during CPF reign. I wonder if CLK will use these same guidlines in his coaching philosophy?

he said at his first press conference that he was going to keep the traditions. If he does away with the maxims, i could see alot of pissed off ppl. Lol but can you imagine coach o reading the maxims?

[John has just referred to an aunt, only to be told by a guest that she is dead]
Jeremy Grey: How many times you gonna do this ****? Rule #32: You don't commit to a relative unless you're absolutely positive they have a pulse.
John Beckwith: Rule #16: Give me an up-to-date family tree. That was your mistake. You made me look like an idiot.
Jeremy Grey: Rule #76: No excuses. Play like a champion!

John Beckwith: Rule No.5: "You're an idiot"

Jeremy Grey: Never walk away from a crasher in a funny jacket! Rule #115!

John Beckwith: Rule #1: Never Leave a Fellow Crasher Behind.

It would be a beautifully sequenced series of grunts and screams...

I don't mean to change the subject from CLK's new rules but I have an 8a.m. with Gerald Williams and he was moving mighty slow today, almost limping. I really hope he isn't injured but it reminded me of how I used to move after a few two-a-day practices, so hopefully this is another good sign. Also, he has been to every class first thing in the morning this semester which I find impressive considering I had classes with several football players last semester and they were rarely if ever seen.

If you see football players at 8 am in class on The Hill...there's a new sheriff in town.

Thanks for the udpate..

+1

Would also add, "...and it will be the one and only time, as you won't be around here long enough to do it a second time."

Not to split-hairs here, but I don't want them to use the Neyland Maxims as a "guideline" - I want them to be INGRAINED into the players as a WAY OF LIFE!

I want the players to feel as if their very lives depend on their committing one of the following acts within 24 hours of hearing those words:

1. They must win a college football game
2. They must having intimate relations (with a lady, this time)
3. They must stalk and kill (not just ensnare or even maime) a wild animal with their bare hands

I want the response to be nothing short of Pavlovian, and instantaneous!

Rule 21 a(1): If the pass is heading to the stands you are still responsible for catching it, if only to prove that you could.

Rule 21 a(2): As Don from Sweetwater stands to high-five you as you're making your way back to the field, punch him square in the mouth.

Adding to the current maxims too would be fine.

"Snappin' necks and cashin' checks."

Except those checks are alumni donations for additional uber facilities, no players on the take here.

rule ? - appreciate your getting a free education to play football.

thou shalt not go near the coach after you screw up a play.
I don't know if CLK has posted this or not yet, but this one is per Urban Myers - thou shalt not smack the coach on the behind even if you are winning

In the case of UM that kind of behavior is probably practiced and encouraged behind closed doors.

get off the field on 3rd down!

This rule only applies to the defense.
