Tennessee had everything to play for and came out played uninspired. Loss totally on butch season is hanging in the balance.

I can't see the same staff on offense returning. Been four years and two OCs ...... the OL is still terrible and the QB still can't read or throw effectively when it counts. It's not winning football, and now they proven they can't beat a less talented team without their help.

I think the OC from Pitt might be a good replacement. If he can get something out of Nate Peterman he must be decent. Plus his last name is Canada so when he screws up it will be good foder for the board. "Send his ass back to Canada"...

When Butch first arrived, we saw him push his scheme on Dooley's team and they didn't take to it very well. At that time, it was hard to tell if we were witnessing a drop in performance due to some players not buying in, or was the scheme simply a bad fit for the players he had.

Now in year four, we can definitively point to tangible improvements, but some problems have persisted. Honestly, I never thought Butch could get it done "his way" in under seven years. The one criticism I had with Mr. Jones is that he constantly tried to run a scheme that the Vols didn't have the personnel to run.

Sometimes the hardest lessons are learned by the harshest results.

Jones's ego wont let him do that

Yeah kick the senior that's been there for 4 years and won you a lot of games to the curb. Players love that type of loyalty and back bone out of a coach. Its good for recruiting too. Players have bad games..just ask Tony Romo

Worst lose since Memphis 96 when you think about a bad opponent with UT having everything to play for. It's obvious this team is poorly coached. We have been a train wreck with turnovers, penalties and mental lapses. I tried to believe that it wasn't that bad cause we were winning early in the yr. But, were not a good football team and it has nothing to do with talent. No excuse to lose a game like yesterday.

Was feeling okay u til my SC friends left VMs... I'm an optimist but I really think there may be time for change in regards to OC and strength and conditioning....

I know it's no excuses but these injuries have affected us!! Ughh! 😣

Tennessee doesn't have a strength coach, they have an intern. Remember, Jones decided back in the spring he didn't need one anymore.

I was hoping I would feel better today but it still feels like I'm taking a dump after eating a jar of ghost peppers. It hurts bad.

Woke up thinking my Saturdays just freed up....

Love this team, but play like this isn't even fun to watch...

And thinking my pockets will be fatter since i won't need to buy Tix for Atlanta or a awesome bowl game...
I'm seriously for the first time in a couple decades thinking about doing something else next Saturday, instead of watching UT struggle to put away lowly Tenn Tech. If we win big, big deal. If Tech has the lead at halftime I wouldn't be surprised. It's just not really worth the time I don't think..

I was so excited for this football season because i know that both basketball teams are going to stink it up again this year and this was going to be my saving grace.

Hurts my soul man....been through a lot of tough times/years with this team, thought we turned a corner so many times....but still giving up 3rd and longs on D or silly penalties to sustain drives for the opposition.
And the offensive play has been just that, offensive..watching Dobbs hop those balls to receivers last night, or watching drop balls recievers....oy vey

I'll still be here, just a lil more quiet...

Have you looked at Dobbs stats? They're terrible for a senior that's been here 4 years. Completion percentage is on the way down while interceptions are on the way up. But don't let winning get in the way of loyalty......Smdh

This, I'll probably take my boys to the hockey game Saturday night so i may watch the first half. Kind of feels like the Wyoming game of 08 for this coming Saturday, pointless and painful.

We saw a poorly coached team take the field.

We saw a coach that doesn't belong in the SEC.

We saw an offense that once again got held to under 100 yards in the first half, except it was against a South Carolina not Bama.

We see a team that has the appearance of losing confidence in the coaching staff.

We've taken a season that still could have been a very good season and threw it all away. Next year is a rebuilding year to a degree and the excuses will be there again for lackluster performance.

Woke up the same mood I was in last night.

1. I do not believe Butch is the man for the job. He needs to go. The whole staff needs to go. If that cannot happen, a different offensive scheme with new offensive coaches must be put into effect. The cluster we had last night should readily show Butch his offense is horrible. 14 offensive points, 2 touchdowns, vs. one of the worst defenses in the country? And he still believes in his crappy schemes? Unbelievable!

2. The game last night has saved me a lot of money. I gave my tickets for the rest of the season to my kids to go to the games. No more 3 hour drives, hotel rooms or eating out in Knoxville until this debacle is past us. Please get someone in as AD with high standards. Maybe the big donors will now see you gotta spend the money to win.

3. Dobbs is not the QB he was last year. He had 3 turnovers last nigh. A senior QB. Their 17 year old QB had zero. Our SR QB got outplayed by a kid who should be getting ready for his high school homecoming dance. That is an indication of #1 as well.

Just really really pissed, upset, frustrated, etc. There are no positive emotions about UT football right now.

Nick Saban is the only coach that can dump players at will and still run for the trophy.

I don't think I need to beat a dead horse by saying this, but... Their QB is supposed to be a senior in high school for crying out loud. On top of their back ups in they were a bad football team to begin with. We were coming off a bye week. Yeah, this one looks bad. Especially when you're coming off a bye week, on top of coming out of a timeout, and still wasting timeouts.

If it makes you feel any better. Bentley would have been a top 5 QB out of high school. He is not a bad player and probably would have started the season but needed to learn more of the offense. I believe UT players believed what the UT fans believed. That is that SC would just rollover and let them win. SC youth out played UT and SC coaches out coached UT tonight. Its that simple. Bring it everyday or face getting beat. Its no different for any team.

I'm just numb to all this now. I think this is the realistic outcome:

Butch has next year alone to save his job. Maybe a healthy team with a lot of these stud recruits a year older, JRM returns?, a QB with an arm, a healthy dose of John Kelly, just maybe we look different.

Dobbs just stunk it up....he was bad. Not sure how we were supposed to win w QB play like that.

As much as I'm disappointed in coaching (as it all falls down on them) the bottom line is Dobbs was that terrible with his arm and turnovers. I mean what play do you call after witnessing those horrendous throws. Missing WIDE OPEN receivers only 8 yards downfield???!!!!

EDIT - For the record, not taking up for coaching this time around but we missed AK, CAM, and JRM. Combine that with putrid QB play and that's the recipe for an upset.

1. I will not disagree with you on your coach because I have no idea. However SC is not the worst defense in the country. SC pass defense is 2nd in the SEC.

2. I am sure your kids appreciate you giving your tickets to them and they are probably happy that you are a fair weather fan.

3. Bentley would have been a top 5 QB out of high school and probably would have started the season had he known more of the play book. He is a very good player.

and finally.....I am also a Vols fan and in no way I believe that this team had arrived yet. If you watched any of the game between Clemsux and FSU you would have seen a difference in talent and effort.

I've had it! Fire Deboord and possibly Butch Jones and God bless Joshua Dobbs but, put him in his spaceship and send him on his way. Time for a new era

I have supported Butch and really hoped he was the answer even through this season . But either he needs to change his ways and be willing to make changes to his staff and philosophy or it will be the end for him. I think he has the fire and work ethic but not the x's and o's to win. If he would swallow his pride and hire competent assistants and let them do their jobs he might cut it but I am afraid he is not able to do so.
