The Vols need to be more violent than every team they play. Every play, every hit should be a monstrous collision, where the other team's players lay prostrate on the ground. The more violent, the more physical, the more the Vols win. To quote a Vol old-timer "you other guys better tie your hats on, because the Vols are coming for you."

The key to success is to master the fundamentals and execute them faster than your opponent.

Also, score more points.

Sounds like the OP is trying to come up with some secondarly participation trophy level method of determining that we won. Like "Oh we lost on the scoreboard but we hit them HARD!"

Wah wah.

Yay for traumatic brain injuries!

I'd prefer they wrap a guy up and bring him to the ground than hit him violently.
I'm with you guy but over the last several years it appears to me players are no longer being taught how to properly wrap a guy up " tackle" and take him to the ground. I see weak attempts at arm tackling, trying to bump him down with a shoulder. I'm not talking just Tennessee I'm referring to all of football. Honestly it's one of the things I notice a lot and it's getting hard to watch the game.

Do you see any other teams being overly physical??

Not trying to excuse blown assignments or simply being out-atheleted, but football is not the same man.

You're the guy a week ago talking about you want to see "head-hunters" out there? That doesn't exist anymore...

Defenders can't attack like they used to. Stupid governing party never played any damn football and doesn't understand that you can't always be in a CLEAN position to hit.

Edit: I was meaning to reply to Fort Sanders not you Zues. Not sure how this happened...

Except some of the "stupid governing party" did play football, and the numerous growing list of former players coming out about how football has to change because of how it damages them long term helped change it. The ones that DID play football helped push these changes.

And no the changes aren't perfect but at least they are trying, and no amount of whining by couch warriors sitting on their fat asses stuffing their faces is going to change that.

Dude shut up.

It was just an opinion.

And I know you are not calling me a couch warrior? šŸ˜…

Wah wah.

Yeah, had we hit Nebraska harder in 1997, we probably don't lose 42-17 and give up 400 yards rushing. But we didn't.

It was a contact sport. Nobody is forcing anyone to play the game. So those that do have long-term effects have only themselves to blame.

It's completely unfair to the defender the way the game is officiated now.

Football is now Airball. Hitting is now Roughing/Targeting and more times than not penalized. Game has changed dramatically in the last 20 or so years, some for the good and some......not so much. I'm all for the safety of the players, but I do miss the "nastiness" part of the game.
