Losing to South Carolina was the straw that broke the camel's back and got Johnny Majors fired. Will the same happen to Fulmer if the Vols lose?

I would disagree that it was SC and say it was more record vs bama that did JM in.

I think we stay on the current trend of play like crap one weekend and then get fired up and play great the next. I think we steamroll SC and then get steamrolled by McFadden two weeks later.

It didn't get him fired in 2005. I think the loss to South Carolina that year was the beginning of the end for Tennessee. UT hadn't lost to Carolina in 13 years. In my opinion, that loss sent the Vols season into a tailspin.

The oddsmakers have Tenn. as a three point favorite. That don't sound much like "steamrolling" anyone! Sounds to me like it could go either way.

The oddsmakers had Bama by a point. That sure felt like being steamrolled to me!

so far that is how it has played out. i won't be surprised one bit if we do beat SC Sat. night.

and that's the problem.

i wonder if SOS feels the same way? maybe we can actually use this as an advantage...you know, in the realm of "we got'em right where we want'em".:)

There is at least one historical difference.... South Carolina was not ranked in 1992.

If you want more differences... the game in 1992 was on the road.... the Vols were coming off of back-to-back home losses.... Alabama won the national championship that season...

The record vs bama was a sore point for sure, but I agree with the OP that the Carolina loss was the final straw. My opinion is that if we make the 2 pt conversion and win that game, JM is the coach in 93.

If Fulmer loses to Steve Superior this year, then he can clean out his office...huge buyout or not.....he's gotta go! Sorry JMHO

Someone please correct me if I am wrong on this but it was my understanding that Fulmer's buyout is pretty much static until we get to within the last couple of years on the current contract (2013). In other words, I think it will cost the same amount to buy him out next year as it would this year.

Home team usually gives up 3 points, so you're right. It's essentially a push...
