I watched our safeties get clowned in all year. I watched a true freshman in Ty Redmond drastically improve throughout the course of the season. WM developed Gibson, McCoy and Hood. You can make the argument about the transfers all you want. But can you show me where McCoy was a pre season AA, a Walter Camp award finalist and first team honors before coming to TN under WM?

We were missing our two starting CBs this whole year. And look how Hood developed. There is a chance he goes into the first round. Sorry that actual stats and facts defeat your argument because basically you have nothing but your blind hate.

He didn’t develop Hood and McCoy. They were playing great when they got here. They continued to play well and got noticed bc they actually played in “the league”.

Just curious, were you a fan in the 90s when we had dominant defenses? I’m just trying to figure out what folks baselines are.

This is not getting the attention it deserves, IMO.

We needed a new DC. Checked the box.

We need a new S&C coach. Crickets.

We need a new FG kicker. Ditto.

The most obvious need has been filled. There are at least two losses hiding in the next two needs.

Get. It. Done.

2026 doesn't have to be a rebuilding year. But unless the obvious needs are addressed, then 2027 will be...

I agree, this needs to be addressed. I have never heard the first comment about our S@C Coach the entire time he has been here. We got to be a the forefront there, it’s a huge factor on performance on Saturdays. GBO

This was Hood’s third school…not saying he wasn’t talented but he had a really good season and might be a late first rounder if he declares..

now do I think our corners are elite technicians? No. But there certainly has been development from that room the last 2 seasons. McCoy is going to be a 20 pick without even playing a snap this season. His sophomore was outstanding.

lol. Nobody is claiming an elite defense. But simply saying Martinez sucks without zero actual evidence besides your opinion makes you look dumb. And making. Childish comments like oh Miss Martinez? Reinforces the dumb. Just goes to show you have no argument. So Hood and McCoy were just as good before they got here? Prove it. And yes I was a huge fan of our 90s defenses. We simply aren’t there and likely won’t be under Heupel. Why? His offensive system. But by all means continue to believe a coach that might put two guys in the first round of the draft and a freshman AA sucks

Martinez sucks. The portal has extended his career by masking his inability to actually coach.

Inge may be a good man but his LBs were just bad this year.

Keep Garner if he wants to be here and clean house.

Thats a narrow way to look at Martinez. He deserves credit for what he’s done in the portal. Even if you doubt his coaching, he’s shown he knows how to identify talent and put guys in the league. McCoy and Hood will hear their names called in the 1st round. That earns credibility when the next guy hits the portal. The safeties were a far bigger issue than the short handed CB room. By no means do I think he’s elite but he’s a solid coach that gets far more hate than he deserves
