Fulmer connected to the NFL through Vols being drafted : Football : GoVolsXtra.com

Fulmer, 58, may have even more interest in the draft in the future. He said he is trying to make a decision on his career direction and has not ruled out coaching in the NFL.

"It's always been one of those things that's been out there," Fulmer said. "I've had a chance to do it on a couple of occasions as an assistant and some interest a couple of times as a head coach, but yeah, that's something you always think about.

"It's kind of the top tier of all the rings (of coaching) that are out there. To coach at that level would be something that is appealing."

Hey, I'm thinking about being an astronaut... that doesn't mean that it is a realistic opportunity. I'm just as close to being on the Space Shuttle as he is of getting a pro job. What makes this guy think that he's going to get an NFL gig?

Wouldn't it be probable he was asked questions regarding a pro gig since the interview was about the draft and the success that many UT players have had during his tenure and that he's currently unemployed?

I am no Fulmer apologist, but the extent to which people try to distort and look for some hidden meaning in his words is astounding. He stated that he's had opportunities in the past, which is true. He also says, "yeah, that's something you always think about" more than likely in answer to a question regarding his thoughts about whether he'd consider a pro offer. Most college coaches probably often entertain thoughts about NFL jobs because.....as he then says coaching in the pros is the pinnacle of the profession and is appealing to him.

He may not have any opportunities to coach in the NFL, but I see nothing in the article where he is puffing up his desirability. Good grief.

I was glad when the university decided that the football team needed to go in a different direction, but if Fulmer ever coached an NFL team I would watch every game and I think a lot folks on hear agree with me. He's a Tennessee boy through and through.

Very well could have been the case... which means that the interviewer is just as delusional as Fulmer is.

I wonder how many articles the local paper at Auburn has written about Tuberville and what his future prospects may be? Has he gotten any awards from any local media members since he was fired?

Exactly. What I find funny is that these folks claim to hate him and want him to go away but anytime a reporter asks CPF a question these same people cant wait to post it on this site. They dont want him making comments and want him to go away but they wont stop talking about him. I think that is funny as hell.

How hard was it to find? It was in the KNS... you know, the local paper. I'm sure papers in Detroit, L.A. or Seattle aren't putting his face up once a week.

Maybe if the local media in Knoxville would stop running Fulmer out everytime you turn on the TV or open the paper, people just might stop complaining.

So sorry to respond to ridiculous statements. I love CPF for what he did for this University, but good grief. Just as much as he is the reason for bringing us a NC, he is also the reason why we were completely terrible last year. He is the reason we have completely retarded quarterbacks, WHO ABSOLUTELY CAN'T PLAY THE POSITION, as well as left the team with an attitude that is piss poor. Get off your high horse and let people have their opinions. You don't want to hear people complain about CPF making stupid comments?? Call the KNS and tell them to keep that crap out of there.
