More info on the whole Vandy recruiting push...

who cares if we dont get kimbrow, we got marlin lane, just because vandy gets a 4 star recruit every century doesn't mean there going to challenge us and last i remember we are way more talented and overall a better team than the smart kids from nashville and we will continue to get better, dont be scared if vandy makes a push once in a while. we are superior to them because we are TENNESSEE!:bash:

Exactly. I didn't say hey let's run a freaking Florida spread.

I said he won't make or break the class..it wont affect us down the road. All I said was we need speed on the field.

How's it gonna hurt if we have a guy on the field that runs a 4.2 and is a threat to break it the distance?

I'll agree we need speed, but not necessarily in the backfield. I'm more concerned about acquiring some speed pass rushers and linebackers...

If he commits to Vanderbilt I won't be happy.

I'm tired of seeing Vol fans say 'oh we'll be alright he's not an every down back anyways."

Who gives a shat? He may have the same skill set as Devrin but this team desperately needs speed. There's no way you can be content with seeing a guy with that speed and talent like Kimbrow commit to a school like vandy..especially over UT.

It's obviously not going to make or break the class but don't act like we couldn't have used him quite a bit.

It is certainly disappointing, but I think everyone needs to realize that there was simply a mutual disinterest here. Kimbrow did things to rub the coaches the wrong way, and vice versa. Sometimes that's how it goes, and in the long run, the highlight of Vandy's class won't be a make or break prospect for ours.

You're a reasonable person so I don't think you really believe this bolded statement.

Have you advocated for a DL recruit to come to UT because of our depth on the defensive line? Same for anyone else. Ragging on BK for this reason is a shade hypocritical.

Think about it.

Those 2 things have zero similarities. Just from his finalists its obvious he wants to be a big fish in a small pond and more power to him. But there's an obvious reasons the coach's have slowed on him with his not so great attitude.

Brian Kimbrow to Vandy is the same as Randall Cobb was to Kentucky. Kimbrow will be their best player and go to guy, but one player doesn't change the fate of the program. Vandy might get better, but that will put them on par with teams like Kentucky, Ole Miss, and Miss St. The hard thing for me to swallow is that Tenn has fallen to a middle of the road SEC team like some of the one's I mentioned. Dooley is working hard to bring us back and I believe he will be successful, but he has to work twice as hard as the other top SEC schools due to our recent records and location. Bottom line is Vandy might up there talent level under a new coach, but won't get to a level of consistently beating top level teams in the SEC.

That's the ugly reality of our program. Not long ago, 7 or 8 wins was a bad season. If we get 7 or 8 this year, we've had a pretty good season.

We're a long way away from NSD... Even if Kimbrow commits to Vandy or someone else it doesn't mean we're going to stop recruiting him. If Dooley & Co. want this kid then nothing will change if he commits somewhere else next week.

I don't think a lot of people on here understand that Dooley is very meticulate at bringing in a certain type of player. The kids that show up acting like God's gift to football, think that they deserve offers, and have attitude issues are being taken off his list. He is looking for kids with exceptional work ethic, zero grade issues, and talented. He is smart enough to know that he doesn't have time to waste scholarships on problem kids right now. He has to build depth with kids that are going to be here and do it the right way.

That's the thing they don't want him.

Let him go to vandy and win 3 games a year in front of 30,000 fans. would like to have him in orange but hey if he wants to go to vandy so be it .... i think redmond will end up being better than him anyway. see you over the middle bk.

I don't know whether Vandy is just kicking our butts on instate recruiting or we are holding off on commitable offers. My guess is that Kimbrow and Bowles have always had commitable offers but we have been holding off on some of the other instate kids.

You act like I said if we don't have damn track stars we're gonna suck.

It baffles me how you can't agree that we need speed.

Whether he agrees or not, Dooley agrees.

You know, someone wise once said, "Keep your words short and sweet, because you may have to eat them later." Not prophesizing anything here; just giving you a word of caution.

Now Blake Bars is said to be favoring a school other than Vandy. This Vandy push is beginning to look more like a pat.

There were 5 then there were 7 and now there is one that I can say is definitely looking like a Vandy commit. Batey probably is too though.

Take Oklahoma as an example,,, they mainly recruit in Texas, not OK. If the kids are playing better comp elsewhere and are faster, bigger that is where Tennessee will go. This program transcends the state. The local guys have to be at least as good as the out of state kids to get the nod.
