More goodies -- the non-NCAA related incident

UT must the only school in the country that have players test positive for smoking dope. Going all the way back to the Onterio Smith days and the big d-lineman who transferred to Oklahoma after being tossed for smoking (and he became a big deal player w/the Sooners). We toss them and other schools take them and they magically quit smoking dope.

In O.Smith's case, in Oregon of all places, something fishy going on.

I don't care about the dope, at all. I do care if Pearl covered up the dope with a back injury story that was broadcast during multiple games. That lack of ethical integrity, if true, is beyond damning and he'll never coach again. Again, if it is true.

OK. You guys got what you wanted. Pearl got fired. Now you start unfounded rumors just to pile on. Now all of us can sit through several years of mediocrity. Don't tell me that other teams don't hide things from the public or cut corners behind the scenes when recruiting or trying keeping their teams together. What Pearl did broke some inane rules that every coach breaks. He got caught and lied about it. But what he did was try to make our team better so UT fans can enjoy winning, filling TBA and getting to the dance.

Now, our best recruits want out, and Hopson and Harris will probably leave. With Hamilton in a weakened position, he will be really lucky to attract a coach to pick up the pieces and for that coach to attract top talent in the next 2 to 5 years. The program might have to go through 2 or 3 failed coaches before the right one is hired. That would mean about 10 years of "Buzz Ball".

Next year we will have Golden, McBee, Maymon, Tatum, Woolridge, McRae and whoever the new coach can get at the last minute. The best recruits, Ware and Jones want out so the prospects are pretty bleak.

Hopefully Hamilton will hit a home run and get a great new coach soon enough to salvage something. But it looks like next year is going to be a disaster. So, pile on brothers, pile on.
Boo hoo. You could always just boycott basketball til the lying piece of garbage UT justifiably ran out of town gets a job at Jerkwater State.

Lynn McGruder was nothing special at Oklahoma.

How bout this theory.... /Brian Williams failed his drug test because of a pills, and Pearl/Coaching staff had the team Dr. write Williams a script to cover up the addiction. and missing the 2 games was "internal discipline"......

Well I apologize to BW for questioning his manhood if this was the case. I didn't see how a player would miss his last game against UK with a minor back pain. It all makes sense to me now.

I was thinking the exact same thing.

Here are my two cents on the situation:

I like Pearl, but I think he forced the administrations hand to pull the plug on his era. Hopefully we get a good coach.

The NCAA's selective enforcement of it's rules has been very evident this entire year in multiple sports. This situation reminds me of a perjury trial, the government lies to us everday and never get in trouble, but if you lie you get the book thrown at you.

It's interesting the vitriol that has been spewed on this board recently. I certainly undertand the people that wanted him gone, but I don't understand the piling on. Pearl hasn't said anything negative against the University, and seems to have taken his medicine with his firing/resignation. I find it hard to believe that people are really so naive to be 'shocked' or 'sickened' that there were other issues in his tenure. He didn't help himself with the issues after the press conference, but I actually think he was contrite, just not very smart.

Just my thoughts on it all.

*** About as well spoken as I have read anywhere ***
