Were the rankings for ESPN put together by a panel or one person? Doug Gottlieb comes to mind when I think of an ESPN personality that would rank the Vols in the 20's. He has never been that impressed with Pearl's teams at Tennessee.

Gottlieb is a tool and 20's is too low for UT, regardless of how they came up with it.

I am going to re-post this link I provided earlier, because I found it odd also. The "power rankings" by the 10 talking heads of college basketball (Vitale, Bilas, Lunardi, Williams, O'neil, etc) had them no lower than 14 in any of their pre-season power polls. All had UT in the range of 10-14. :ermm: Yet their magazine puts them at 22. The link to the power ratings is below.

I love how people rip Gottlieb for saying UT was overrated both years they received 2 seeds, when the fact is he turned out to be 100% corrrect.

Hat do you know what Miami Of Ohio is going to look like this year?? The signed a freshman from here in Franklin that I know pretty well. Just wondering what their team might do if they had any chance to make it the nit or the big dance

Gottlieb provides good (and entertaining) analysis, because he knows a lot and believes he knows everything. I actually prefer disagreeing with him (most often) than agreeing with him (e.g. his call of the 2007 UT-Xavier game on ESPN).

I thought UT was way over seeded in 2005-2006, but I thought the 2007-2008 group deserved a one seed based on their resume. They weren't as good a team as Kansas, but they had a better regular season, IMO.

haha..I remember watching S.S. in 05-06 and then jumping on the ESPN message boards. People were going insane.

Here's a clue...you're not a Vol fan, and true Vols don't claim you. We don't want you cheering for our football team. It's a package deal.

Seriously, people like you are some of the biggest retards I've ever seen. Cheering for a school in one sport and then against them in another.....the same colors, same fight songs, everything. In one instance you embrace it, in another you shun it.

So please....do us a favor and start rooting for Kansas football, because you're not welcome here.

I heard last night that the APSU win was Pearl's 99th at UT. What BB coach at UT has gotten to this point quicker than Pearl? Where was Ray Mears at the start of his 5th season?
