Actually 4 seasons. 1975-1978. I know this because my 4 years as an undergrad was spent those four years, with no bowl games. Some of the best of the lowlights were losing to Vandy at home, losing to North Texas State at home and losing to Auburn at home 14-12 when our kicker was *short* on a 39 yard field goal on the last play of the game (after we were up 12-0). But at least we did go 7-2 against Kentucky in hoops those four years.
I remember being so excited we made a bowl game that year. I gotta tell ya, I still get excited when we make one today. The only bowl game I've ever been disappointed to play in was the Citrus vs Michigan after we lost to LSU. But I did make that trip, and it was one of the best days of football I've ever experienced. The Michigan fans were so cocky ... every single one of them no exceptions, and we beat them like little girls. Sat on the UT side couple rows up right on the 45. Every single person I know called to tell me they saw me on TV. Spent New Year's Eve the night before at Disney. Don't let em kid ya boys ... any bowl game is a good bowl game!! The Citrus (how we'd kill to play in that one today after bumming over it for years) and yes, even the Bluebonnett!!!!!!
Back in the olden times, when college football was an amateur sport, a bowl game was a reward for a good season.
season highlight tapes like this one out there. I have VHS tapes from the following seasons & games produced by something like the Photographic Dept at the University of Tennessee & if narrated (because a couple are silent) are done so by the guy in the 1979 tape. I also need to know how to successfully and with a quality effort transfer VHS to DVD format. Can anyone help here?
The tapes I have are season highlights from 1967, 68, 69, 70, 71, 72 and I have the '65 UCLA, '71 Penn State and '85 Sugar Bowl.
