Moore to play safety?

I think we'll see Brewer and Lanier/Loften back at Safety.

sWaggner will stay at corner where he is much more of a play maker.

I think we'll be ok.

I agree.. Wagner should stay at corner. But If Moore wants to start I think his best shot is free safety

And the loophole is that he is able to sit out a semester and still play next season per NCAA rules. Probably means he needs to enroll for the summer term. This will give him time to get everything worked out, play next season, and then be drafted. Also gives our young guys a season to grow up.

I'd rather Moore be a CB and know thats his position to keep. I think it would suck if he was at FS all the way until fall and then all of a sudden Janzen comes back and we have two stellar athletes expecting to play the same position, just IMO

The big picture is this......

Janzen will be back in time for summer work outs and fall camp. It makes no sense for him to transfer or any of that garbage. One more semester at UT and he is off to the NFL. So they have obviously found a loop hole that will allow him to sit out this semester and handle his "personal issues", and then return in time to play 13 more games and then head to the League!

If anyone is guiding this kid from his own camp, that's truly his best option!

Exactly what I was thinking... or at least hoping. Would love to have Janzen back. Janzen, Moore, Teague, Lanier, etc. will make for one hell of a secondary.

Waggner was horrible at safety.

Look for Randolph or Lanier to take over if JJ can't get back on track.

Ant Anderson is another guy that could step in if he has a big spring.

Agree Waggner wasn't that impressive at corner, but proved to be a moore than adeqate corner.jmo

Dooley and Co. will keep Waggner at Safety, and if Janzen doesn't come back, Moore will fill his position at Free Safety.

"If....."
"Best shot..."

Moore is an exceptional talent. We will pencil in the rest of the secondary around him how they fit best. Not the other way around. Our secondary will be best if we are able to play him at CB. But we will have to see if we have a FS good enough to let that happen.

If Waggner is playing safety to start the season it is out of desperation and would not be a good sign for us. He did not look great at either position but the difference between his play at CB and S was huge. The coaches realize that.

One opinion...

Rotation w/out:
CB-Moore, Wagner
S-Brewer, Martin
S-Lanier/Randolph
CB-Teague, Gordon

Rotation w/
CB-Moore, Wagner
Safety-Brewer, Randolph
Safety-JJ, Lanier, Martin
CB-Teague, Gordon

*When the scheme dictates a 5th DB---Wagner.

Wilks, Coleman, Oliver, Sapp in the mix.

Moore will start at Corner or Safety, whereever they decide they need him.

Regardless he is a starter from the day he gets on campus.
