Alrighty then. See you on the week of the 19th of September. Have a fun spring and summer. By the way, that is a very respectful avatar you have chosen.I am a Gator fan so I am sure I will not have a friendly following. But, I am a fair one and I don't like being trashed on our boards so I will try and show the same respect for you on yours. I have always respected UT and coach Fulmer. Now Kiffen... not so much. But it is early and time will tell. I can understand how you guys are ready for a breath of fresh air and he seems to be filling the sails with it now. The only thing that sux is, and it is the same with us, it is all talk till Sept. I am curious to see how things look with you guys, Monte's D especially, in the spring. I can say this and I am sure you will all agree: The 19th of Sept can't get here fast enough!
Officially marked down... When do you think the last time Monte has schemed against the spread?
The spread consists of putting players in one on one match ups ...or forcing defenses into weak zone overloads .
It doesn't have to be the spread to cause this . Mmmmmm ...I believe Michael Vick caused this to happen to defenses . I think the Tampa D did well against him for years .
I think the spread is just a re invention of the wheel . Nebraska in the 1990's stretched the field side to side first with the option and north and south with the power run and occassional pass . The Spurrier gators used the Fun and Gun to spread the field every which way .
The spread as it is run at UF now is really a power running , athlete in space system . Defend it with assignment based defense just like the other incarnations over the years .
UT did well against it last season , held to 293 yards . Monte has had past success at the highest level ...he will have success at this level too .
I don't know but I tell you this that TE shuffle crap will be blown up all day long next season. Also are you'll counting on Andre Debose to be your playmaker for the O
His success is his ability to put guys in the right spots at the right times to make plays . That won't change in college football
