Monte on Tennessee

My question is

Why do we give a rats ass what the Kiffins think?

Jesus H Christ people, they were only here over a year and people act like its an ex-girlfriend that didnt bang you but is now banging some dude you hate.

This is beyond ridiculous.

Screw them. I dont need their approval of Tennessee, the fans, or Knoxville. To hell with them both.

If Monte hadn't had Eric Berry his defense wouldn't have been diddly. It showed several times throughout the year. His defense gave up how many to Ole Miss? 23 to Ohio, 28 to Memphis, 24 to Kentucky.

The whole Kiffin Klan right down to Mamma Kiffin can kiss my red neck.

The defense didn't give up a lot of the points you're talking about. Take away a terrible Crompton pick and return, and Ohio doesn't find the endzone. Memphis the backups were playing almost the entire game. Crompton threw a pick-6 against UK. Ole Miss was pretty clearly them just straight up owning us at the lines. Also, third string safety, third string middle linebacker, and no Lamont Thompson didn't help against the Rebs.

is that real?

I'd like to see how they react if it happened at their alma mater. It's been like what, 6 months since kiffin left?

Look how much money these big time programs produce. This wouldn't be multimillionaire industry if people didn't care. Most people will be pissed when a coaching staff comes in and wastes a year. Those players learning those systems wasted time and filled their brain with useless junk.

100% real

Yeah I got a signed poster, pics, etc.... Corso is not looking good. No matter what was said, I walked 3 blocks back to my Hotel feeling bad for Lee..........
You can tell from gameday that the stroke had a serious effect on him. Guess you have to give him credit for continuing on with the show.

We should have kept Chavis. He is the was the one bright spot as far as coaching for us.

Chavis was considered for the head coaching position, but he couldn't do that to the man that helped him so much. I wish we could have kept Chavis too, but as a defensive coordinator.

Give me a break. He didn't get a moment's consideration. Both his successors are big improvements.

I guess you can call it defense. They played defense... through the offense. What does Monte Kiffin have to do with the offense sitting on the ball?

The clock was intentionally run out to get beat less. The game was a forfeit from the start. It's impressive Tennessee only lost by ten. Unfortunately, they also never had a chance to win. It was a milk the clock situation from start to finish.

It's easy to second guess, should, coulda, woulda. And, I think you make some good points. I think Kiffin gave us a chance to win, not saying we were going to win in any case. Would it have been better to let a somewhat shaky Crompton air it out and let the Gators get 10 picks? We all know John got better as the season went on but you also know all the hatred that had been directed his way saying put Stephens in too. Had we gotten a couple more breaks would we had a better chance? Who knows? In the 4th qtr we still had a chance, slim, but a chance. It's all speculation anyway now. Could we have aired it out and won? Maybe; maybe not? What would the criticism have been had we aired it out and got beat by 60? Would Crompton's confidence been destroyed for the rest of the season? You don't know. He proved 95% of us wrong, but I think he had a lot of help from his coaches. Giving him plays that both Crompton & the coaches had confidence in. So, we can speculate until eternity but to say Kiffin simply ran the clock out to keep from getting beat worse I think is untrue. Don't forget, we fired the "run-the-clock-out strategy coach, finally, and thankfully. That coach would have gotten beaten by 60.:peace:

Anyone that didn't know our gameplan going into the Florida game last year probably doesn't need to worry about discussing football on here.

I'll be the first to say that i am over the lane train. Don't get me wrong. i am over the heartbreak when he spurned TN for a seemingly higher profile job. But, the other part of me says if i was at USC and had the same opportunity, i'd do the same thing. Now, I would have done several things like not calling recruits, etc., etc. But, i am the first on here saying that i won't be pulling against him at USC. Part of me is looking forward to watching Lane and co. and seeing what that staff can do. I would have liked to have seen how it would have played out here because i think they would have had us in the elite group of teams in two years. I won't be pulling against them necessarily although a good blowout against them might be satisfying on some level.
I guess I am looking forward to the Hawaii USC game because i am familiar with the coaching staff. Maybe that's a little too kumbuyahish but screw it. I'll be watching. And it will be entertaining no matter what happens.

How many times did eventual national champion Alabama find the end zone against his defense?

Honestly I didn't really understand that. He did relatively well against both Florida and Alabama. He didn't win either, but played well. They they would play a team the should have beat like UCLA and the game went to crap.

Great point! I had forgotten about that. Hmm, we should have won the Bama game, however, we lost to Bama by 2 the national champion to be; lost to the defending national champion by 10 who lost to Bama. We may not have won but got the cigar for being close last year.

The letdown to Ole Miss & VT I can't explain unless you want to say the injuries had a lot to do with it but think we really were just out-matched/outplayed. those losses definitely hurt. Afterall, did anyone really expect miracles with the players Fulmer left them with? Dooley is in a similar position, only 72 scholarship players I think and it will take some time before we're back on top. Look how dismal Bama has been over the past 10 yrs or so after so many coaching changes--it takes time. Same thing happened when Saban took over, but he turned it around pretty quit once he got some of his recruits.

Our defense didn't cause us to lose against UCLA.

If you look at how the season progressed, our defense starting going downhill a bit when Reveiz got hurt. Then, Frazier got accustomed to the MLB position, things got a bit better. Then, he was out, along with Janzen Jackson, and Darren Myles. The bottom fell out. After that, the injuries continued to mount and we couldn't recover.

We are on page 11......... I just told you guys that the Face of ESPN's College Football crew asked 8 weeks ago if we were over Kitten ........ I also gave you first hand info of how they percieve our comments. AND the thread is growing !!!! What don't you get ?

GTFOIT !!!! NOBODY THINKS ITS NEWS WORTHY BUT YOU !!!!!

Let it go ....................for US please !

Does anyone remember all the negative comments Saban was getting when he came to Alabama?

He was called everything. Do you remember him telling the Dolphins fans (and media) he was not leaving Miami?

Or my personal favorite.. Saban comparing his loss (Louisiana-Monroe) to a catastrophe such as 9/11 or Pearl Harbor!

Winning sure helped the fan base at Alabama forget the bad times. Just like it will at UT. The question is how much longer will UT fans wait?

The Kiffin era too will pass. Regardless if you like MK as a person or not, he is a great coach. He had little or nothing to do with EB not getting the Heisman. Get serious.

Kiffin has a lot more to worry about than the UT fans. If something were to happen to MK, Lane would starve.

Sounded like it was newsworthy to them.

do not care if mk is gods gift to coaching, he was a horrible parent who raised an amoral kid. i am glad he and his creepy son are gone, even if we lose more games this year. mk and his son will run their course and the ending will not be pretty.

2 Months ago they thought us dragging it out was "news worthy" .................care to explain how you think you made a point ?
Cause when they found out you were a Tennessee fan the first question was are we over Kiffin. Not how's Dooley recruiting, how's the team gonna be this year, who's gonna be the qb, or any other question ragarding our team or school. That's my point.
