Monte on Tennessee

It may be a reach, but Wilcox's defense is designed to work against modern college offenses, Monte's was effective, but not designed for modern college offenses

jmo

That is what i'm hoping for as well. but to slam Monte after 1 year was not justified imo.

"They try to read this down in Tennessee, and I suspect they will have to find a relative out of state to read it to them, they'll probably tell you Lane has only one fan. His dad".

Screw TJ Simmers for that line.

We should have kept Chavis. He is the was the one bright spot as far as coaching for us.

No way. The guy had some terrible, terrible games. He had the worst schemes/calls at the worst times. Watch the '04 SEC CG. We gave up play after play after play. I liked him before he left, but I am not wishing we had him back. If we can get a solid front seven for him, I think Wilcox will have a very solid D for us.

I don't want to be in USC's class. That's the class that doesn't get to go recess because they misbehaved.

Ok, but Boise's D was ranked in the top 10 last year.....ours sure as hell wasn't

Yeah, we were 17th. So horrible. Especially since we had to face the defending national champion and the eventual national champion.

The only thing I disagree with is the fact that he said UCLA beat us easily. We handed them both games. We are not currently in USC's class. Not even close. What was the context of that comment?

"As for jumping ship; USC called him,'' daddy Kiffin says, the folks in Tennessee failing to understand if UCLA can beat the Volunteers so easily the past two years, there's no way they can be considered in the same class as USC."

Is USC's Lane Kiffin really Mr. Misconduct, or just misunderstood? - Los Angeles Times

People have tried to give him the benefit of the doubt , but he is no better than his son. Did he forget that he was coaching the defense that lost to UCLA last year? Oh and good luck stopping the spread you old bastard :finger3:

I'm also loving the spin from ESPN and others acting like Manning went on the Dan Patrick show just to talk about Kiffin. Did anyone hear the interview? They spent all of 3 minutes talking about that douchebag.

Who gives a SHAT. Let it go, frankly I am tirerd of talking and hearing about the Kiffins on this board. Anyone else agree??????

It's a poorly written piece, but I think the context suggests that Monte didn't make the UCLA comment- that was an added jab by the writer.

It's similar to this one from the same crap piece: "They try to read this down in Tennessee, and I suspect they will have to find a relative out of state to read it to them, they'll probably tell you Lane has only one fan. His dad."

Money an education does not make. As for the lifestyle in LA, well you don't have to know how to read to see how shallow, superficial and hedonistic are those morons.

Agree, Monte did a passable job last year, and yes, UT is not currently in USC's league. However, it's classless to say it to a reporter. Everyone with any sense already knows that fact. I guess the apple doesn't fall too far from the tree after all.

They (The media) love to say our fans are still talking about Kiffin , but it seems it's in reguards to something said by Daddy , Brat or Captain Caveman. This is a perfect example. Somebody should mention how the USC staff can't stop talking about Tennessee. The only time I heard our coaches or former players say anything is when people ask them about Lane. I've heard the same answer from Manning and Dooley several times. Infact , other than an article about Lance Thompson , I haven't heard anyone talking about them. They spin it like they never bring him up. It's our coaches and former players showing up just to talk about Lane. Funny how that works.

He's the kind of guy who will answer a question truthfully. If he was asked a question about how Tennessee compares to USC, given a common foe in UCLA, this is the kind of answer you'll get.
Given the type of column written, I wouldn't be shocked if that's what was asked.

Yeah, it's not like Monte held Florida to 23 points as a 4 touchdown underdog. Oh, wait, he did.
Posted via VolNation Mobile

That's the only thing (as far as the spread goes) he can hang his hat on. A 10 point loss to Florida. Ole Miss handed Monte his ass. As did VT.
