Monte knows the difference between right and wrong. He has allowed Lane to ruin his entire professional reputation. Yesterday one of the most respected names in the state, today a spineless traitor. Sometimes it is disappointing to learn the true character of a man.

I think Monte is just a father that is loyal to his son first and foremost... and regardless of the situation. Yes, Lane and Ed Orgeron have completely screwed over UT, but make no mistake... MK is going because his son is going. That's it.


I probably would have done the same thing, if I were in his situation. I honestly don't think this is a direct reflection of Monte's character.

Monte has to be a little worried about his son's reputation.

A month ago, Lane's only supporters were Vol fans, and now he doesn't have those. He is a villain to the sports world as a whole, other than some of the USC fanbase.

Monte is simply an enabler of Lane. In another universe the wisened old father would have sat his son down and lectured him on duty, honor, commitment and that he wasn't going to let his reputation get destroyed by the selfish actions of his son...but in this case, "sorry about my lame son, but gotta catch a flight to LA".
