Monte and his wife loved it here, and seem to be decent people.
It was odd the next day on sportstalk radio of him calling in trying to explain Lane leaving . You could tell he didn't wantbto leave but at this point his career wasn't about himself but rather trying to support his son any way possible.

He didn't allow Eric Berry to be Eric Berry in my opinion
That particular season. EB coverage stats suffered but every NFL scout on his film from pre draft and draft day said Berrys stock improved from Monte Kiffins use of him. Everyone knew how well he could cover the center of the field and was electric when he got his hands on the ball. But Monte bringing him up in the box as a glorified linebacker and he answered the bell repeatedly showed himself as more of a complete player.

It's about the Jimmys & Joes. I seem to remember a Masterpiece in Tuscaloosa by Monte.
Montes Tampa Two definitely worked better against Pro style offenses. Hence thats all it had ever been used for. That game with McCluster shredding us was an example of him having no clue of the modern college game of how to adjust.

Tenn didn't have anyone close to DM's speed. I watched it. He ran away from everyone we had.

Berry was basically a one Man show at bama. That was genius; and EB was Magnificent .

Dexter McCluster made millions from playing against Monte's D......
There was both good and bad from Monte Kiffin's defense in 2009. They also held Alabama to 12 points in Tuscaloosa, during what would become Nick Saban's first National Championship season at Alabama. Alabama scored at least 20 points against everyone else they played in 2009. Nobody played them tougher than Tennessee did that season. The defense also played well as a huge underdog in a losing effort at Florida, but they didn't get any help from Crompton and the offense. They would later dominate both Georgia and South Carolina in big wins, as well.

From the time it happened, Monte Kiffin has always lamented leaving Tennessee, and he has been respectful of the Tennessee football program and of east Tennessee, in general. His defense (with the 2009 Thorpe Award winner) wasn't all that bad either.

Star position just like Theo Jackson is playing.

Monte Kiffin! Isn’t he the guy whose defense couldn’t stop a 10 yard hook route on 3rd down?

Terrible thing to say after his kind comment about his brief experience in Knoxville.
He was good against normal offenses. Sucked against the spread.
