Monte interview in Sporting News

I don't have many hobbies. I don't golf, I don't fish, I don't bowl. I love my family and I love to coach. I can't wait for it to start. I'll be in here all summer watching tape.

That gets me pumped!

Interesting that Monte has the Florida offense up on his white board. Not, WKU, UGA, OLe Miss, Alabama but FLA. We may not have the QB to beat them this year but I don't think Monte is going to stand by and let them hang 50 on us this year.

The thing that fires me up about this coaching staff is knowing that each week the players will be prepared for each game.

I love reading what Monte has to say. Some of the posts below the article are just absolutely ridiculous. Can't wait to see him in action this fall.

I got here on a Thursday, and Sunday night was first day we could go out. I went with Ed Orgeron to Memphis on my first trip. I'm thinking, "I'd like to visit with kids in the morning, get a run in during the late afternoon and then do home visits later that night." My son said, "Dad, you're not even going to be in Memphis in the afternoon, you'll be in Atlanta." I had no idea. We were in four states in one day. I felt like I had been recruiting for a week. That was Day 1. I said to myself, "Welcome to the new age of recruiting." I just got into it and had a blast.

And people question how much recruiting Monte does.

it will be ready to the extent that we have the talent to get done what he wants done. I'm not so sure about the talent part of the equation.

Good article and great to see him breaking down tape of every team we play this coming year. Malzahn's Offense at Tulsa is also high on his list.

Regarding talent, who are we lacking now that we had last year? Were they that big a deal, because I sure didn't see a lot of draft picks this year?

Lost a lot of depth in an already thin DT rotation and losing 3 LBs didn't help either.

hm. sounds like urban meyer and florida are already in the heads of the ut coaching staff.

And why wouldn't they be? They are at the top of the hill
where we are trying to get to. Maybe he should be watching film of Vandy? I really don't see your point unless there wasn't one.

just that when meyer and co mention/scheme/plan for ut, its because kiffin is in their heads. there's no other explanation for it. meanwhile when the shoe is on the other foot, its simply solid football gameplanning.
and don't hide behind "why are they so scared of a 5-7 team?" first sec game of the year and a heated rivalry. don't fool yourself, uf isn't going to overlook ut. that's all there is to it.
