remembering back to his recruiting class, scout had him as a DB. I think with his size and a few weeks of practice, he could be a hell of a SS. He ain't gonna get any PT at RB anyway. That way Berry can go back to corner or FS. Next year would look good with Hardesty, Berry, Vinson, Rogan, and Johnson playing back there. Your thoughts????

Hello all, this is my first post here on VN. I stumbled across this site the other day, liked what I saw and figured I'd stick around. I used to post on Volquest as Bradley8302 about a yr ago for those that were/are on there.

I have a question for the board though. What do you think the chances are that we see Montario as a DB? He seems to have gotten lost in the shuffle at RB, whether it be because of his ankle or not. It seems as though it's Foster, and Coker and then Creer. From what I remember he was a pretty good DB in HS. At least we'll have one DB that hasn't been brainwashed by the Larry Slade philosophy.

I think it is too late to make the move. Given his injury prone status at running back, who knows, maybe that would have been a much better path for MH.

.....Derrick Tinsley was one of the best tacklers on the team a couple of years ago......just thought I'd throw that in.....didn't really have a point!

maybe he wouldn't get run over like our DB's tend to do(i.e. Jason Allen v. Ronnie Brown, Hefney v. Tebow, Devine v. Newton). Granted the last two are probably a bit tougher for a DB since those QB's are 250ish lbs.

welcome! :hi:

there have been several comments on the board concerning using him even at tight end...? MH's issue of late has been physical durability.

Hardesty as a TB
Arian was going to be the featured back all along with CPF. The thing that I think separated Hardesty AWAY from LC is last year is when Montario carried 107 times for 384 yards last season. By comparison, LaMarcus had just one more carry (108) but 312 more yards (696). I recall InsideTennessee.com hyed up Hardesty as the dominate running mate, complimenitng one-two punch on our team when Lamarcus was reprimanded by his issues and no one knew where he was going to land.

Hardesty as a DB
In my opinion, (worth:twocents:) is CPF has already committed Vinson to defense, I could not see him making another switch. Hardesty at another ofensive position seems might be an unlikely fit as well. NOT THAT HE COULDN'T DO IT, I'LL EXPLAIN. the coaches have said before, MH might be the toughest kid on the team as far as putting his body out there and self sacrificing. We have seen his aerial ability jumping over 6'4" DT's at the goal line pushes. I agree, I would like to see him out there more, I thInk it is more physical issues than any other reason. It's still early. Coker has become the #2 TB. I would like to see that two back set that Florida was using with Moore / Harvin and keep Arian as TB and use Coker / Hardesty more at the slot TB, as a safety valve like Harvin. Harvin will be heisman candidate in that odd position ( i say odd because rarely does anyone else use it) to have just as many yards running as receiving. Creer and Coker probably both have better hands receiving that would also push MH further down the depth. Creer and Coker have very good hands who, both need to continue returning kicks as well.

High School
MH was a true CB in high school (UT recurited him as a 4star CB) during his senior year, but during his junior year he excelled and broke school records in rushing and receiving.
As a junior: 256 carries/2050 yds, (8.0 yd avg) 19 TDs; 12 rec/304 yds/3 TDs This might be the reason he was recruited for TB and kept at TB for us.

He is hard to overlook standing on the sideline, but he has ot get healthy and stay healthy. SEC is not high school!

Again, :hi: welcome, this place is addicting to the passionate fan.

He was also a very underrated offensive player who was in on a lot of big plays. But noooo we had to play sucky J-Train more.:good!:

Too late? What could it hurt? We bring in all sorts of heralded 5-star recruits in that can't play and comprehend the game/or that the coaching staff can't teach to play the game. If they could pull it off, that would speak volumes about the coaching staff. And also their willingness to put guys who want to play in a position where they could best benefit their team.

I think it has more to do with his potential at any certain position. I have said this before, I think Hardesty could be our best all-around RB on the team. I think that potential is what keeps him at RB. What has held him back from reaching that is injuries and the same injuries that are holding him back at RB will also hold him back at SS. He is not buried on the RB depth chart because of ability. It is simply because of injuries.

He is not scared of anyone nor situation. He is all out, everytime he is on the grass. He acts like he is playing for his life on every play.

Albeit, football is an incredibly demanding sport on all levels and positions, but I think he may be more incensed to play SS than RB seeing the depth ahead of him and he has less of a chance to reinjure himself at SS. He's a physical guy and a lot of people would be aiming for his knees. He may be more motivated seeing as that may be his only oppritunity to go to the NFL.

It'd be nice to bring a level of physical hitting to the D that we haven't seen since... Gibril Wilson? That's the last somewhat discipled lumber bringer we've had play S. Berry is still unproven, but I think they realize that in the coming years (I think they're still hoping for their jobs) that they're going to need a guy with his tools at S. I'm being hopeful and I've diverted.

well, putting the very fast Berry at FS, Hardesty is tough and fast at SS, put Vinson and Willingham at CB, we could be set. M.Johnson get s beat too easily. Has anyone heard about the possible return of Morley?
