Montana Offense vs. Cincinnati Offense

6 fumbles last week against a FCS team, doesnt give me great hope for this week. If we win the turnover battle we should be able to slip by them in a close game only because we are at home. This Cinci team is talented and deeper than we are on defense. That will be trouble.

It was in a monsoon. It's not like 6 fumbles a game is their norm.

I think it's gonna be a better game then last week vs Montana. While they do run a similar offense as to Oregon they do not run it with the same tempo. They have the ability to do so,but they don't do it alot. That's how Oregon opperates they wear you out and don't let you sub. They are more relxed then what you would see with an Oregon team.Montana runs a little faster paced then Cinncinatti.Yes Cincy has weapons and should be a test.We will have to play well and play assignment football, but I think we are better for it this year.

UT 35- 21
:good!:

But you shouldn't expect to recover all your fumbles the way UT did Saturday. That was lucky. IF the ball bounces the other way a couple of times, that game might have looked somewhat different.

We (Not that I am part of the team or anything, just easier to say we then the Bearcats) definitely do have a pretty quick tempo. Agree it is not Oregon, but we definitely will force the pace and at times have gone to breakneck speed if we catch the defense with the wrong personnel and will exploit that and make it next to impossible to substitute.

Totally agree. I think our front seven (or six as it may be) will be able to deal with their rushing attack by playing assignments while getting in the backfield. Austin Peay was able to do this, they just didn't make many tackles.

You referenced earlier that all of these kinds of offenses are fairly vanilla, do you think they'll be sticking to essentially the same offense as last week? That would seem to help us a lot.

Every team trys to add a new wrinkle or two each week but yeah Cincy will run essentially the sme offense. Its an option attack. At its base you get your QB on the corner isolated with the DE and he keeps it or dishes it based on what the DE does. If its going good and you're gashing the D for 7-8 yards a pop and they bring the safeties down in the box you show 'em the option and belly off that and hit the seam route (where the safety was) with a TE or WR. Of course they run some other things off it but that's the offense at its core. Auburn and LSU blew it up against the Ducks by getting great D-Line penetration. It takes a few seconds for the option to develop, if you got a backside DT or DE pressuring the QB you can make something good things happen on D - sacks, fumbled pitches, etc. Anyway probably more of an answer than you were looking for.
