To all those who wanted to play USC in 2011,

Wes Rucker per his twitter,

" If Vols played SoCal in 2011, first 8 games: SoCal, Cincy, at Florida, at NorthCarolina, Georgia, LSU, at Bama, SouthCarolina. "

Yikes

We should not be playing any FCS (I-AA) teams at all. No Montana's or UT Martin's. All SEC schools should quit playing these schools. Some have Tn. Tech, UT-Chattanooga, Arkansas St on their schedules this year.

Montana is significantly better than, to be conservative, half of the teams currently playing in FBS conferences.

I watched the Griz play on TV last year. Looks like they come ready to play.

Let's hope so. We should be a fairly experienced team when we come to town, although our QB and RB are both seniors this year.

They are kind of like BYU with all the white boys. Amazing how those moron cbs and rbs are so good.

U of Montana is lucky in that it dominates the recruiting market in Montana. Now I know that doesn't sound exactly awe inspiring, but we do get kids who have done nothing but dreamed about playing for Montana and even better, no other colleges, mid major or big time FBS, to recruit them away.

Some good kids fly under the radar.

Welcome, my youngest daughter went to Montana, loved every minute of it, and I watched several games in Washington Stadium. Hope you can make the trip to Neyland, it will be a great experience.

UT is my second favorite team. Met a UT grad when my wife and I lived in Phoenix. I have already told her we are planning on making the trip.

The only link I could provide for you would be the one to the sound bite from Finebaum when they had the guy on. Pretty much the most credible, seeing as to how it came from the horses mouth. I dont think he would go on international radio and make something like that up, but if you dont believe me, i'm sure you can call into the show and they can confirm that it was lane who pushed for the game and then CDD's response.

What radio show? He & the head of the AAC were both on 680 in ATL after this fell through. NEITHER of them mentioned this fabled text. In fact, both mentioned obligations with home games.

Paul Finebaum. The biggest sports show in the south and one of the biggest in the nation. On Sirius/XM. I'm sure that he would not lie or make something up on this show.

You must not listen to Finebaum very often then. He makes a living on rumor and half-truths.

Because the N. Texas/Montana game is a home game. If we played USC we would've had to dump that game. Which means we lose a home game, a lot of money and our football program doesn't turn a profit. Like everything else in CF, its all about the Benjamins.

Well, the program would still turn a profit with one less home game, but losing the $4 million would be more than a blip on the radar, even with a $100 million budget.

losing $4 mil doesn't just effect football, all the sports that depend on football revenue would take a hit.

I listen to him every day, so yeah, I would say that would be considered "often". And I don't see how it could be a ruomor or "half-truth" when the guy who sets the game up and is the managing operator of the game every year is the one who admitted all of this live on air. Please read back a couple of pages to get the facts.

Hey Guys,

Griz fans are extremely excited about the opportunity to play in Neyland. Personally, I love Tennessee and can't wait for the trip.

And thank you to all of you who have posted respectful things about the Griz program. I doubt many Griz faithful are expecting a win, but I'm pretty certain the game will be competetive.

And FWIW, yes: Montana is certainly better than North Texas, and a good number of current FBS teams. Where FCS teams pay the price in these games is the lack of depth. Playing with 22 fewer scholarships makes for a tough road to hoe late in games.

Have a great season. I'll be popping onto your board (n a non-troll fashion! :good!:) during the year.

Go Griz, Go Vols!

Why are you certain that its going to be competitive?

Thanks 2012.

I can already see that this is one of the classier boards I've ever visited. Not surprising given that's it's filled with Tenneseeans.

I couldn't agree more. We (ad/fanbase) need to grow a pair and should have played them. Our old AD and fanbase would have played them any time any where. Don't under estimate payback over talent when players are concerned. Stop living in our fears...GO VOLS
