Montana in 2011?

Care to put money where your mouth is if they meet next year?

I got a c-note that says the Vols win by a 3 touchdown margin.

Whoa, big spender. Predicting a 21 point win over a FCS opponent just oozes confidence, haha

I would have preferred the North Texas matchup. We would have had a chance to even the series record.

Your avatar is the spitting image of a typical Los Angeles girl.

I just put three teams down there for the hell of it... you, conversely, actually like the Red Sox.

Is liking the Red Sox problem for you or something? I happen to be a Braves fan as well though.

I haven't heard this, but wouldn't be surprised...

It is about money for the smaller teams and I have no problem with that. Every now and then you get a Wyoming or Appy St. win out of it too.

hey i would say to much bout wyoming they beat us two years ago. i hate to bring up that homecomingloss but im just sayn

We chose not to play USC primarily because we would lose a home game, which would mean the loss of 3 -4 mil, the difference between what we would earn from Chic Fil A and what we would earn from a home game. That's not chump change! In addition, and this is not mentioned much, but retailers, hotels, restaurants, etc. would lose a lot of money from one less home game and they are all important to UT and Knoxville. Even though Chick Fil A were the ones promoting the game, and it wasn't a case of USC seeking us out for a game, if Kiffin really is so hot and heavy to play us then he should propose replacing N Texas as a home game for us next year.

I dont know where people on this site get their information, but none of this is true. Lane sent a text to the guy who sets this game up every year which read: "usc- vols 2011". They approached dooley and he said: "Yes. Give me 3 years and let me get my players, and we'll play them". The whole losing money thing is BS. We're playing NC state in the game in 2 years if you didnt know..

1) please give us a link for your source on the text to Chick Fil A promoters from Kiffin.....this is the absolutely first time I have ever heard that story. It is true Kiffin contacted Hamiliton AFTER Chick Fil A proposed the game, Hamiliton thought the text from Kiffin had a tongue in cheek element to it.

2) We are playing NC State in the Chick Fil A game in 2012. We ALSO have 7 home games that season. The Chick Fil A game in 2012 is being treated as an away game. To drop N Texas State and play USC in Atlanta would mean we would drop down to 6 home games in 2011, which is below the minimum our athletic budget requires in order to meet obligations. In the Chick Fil A game each team will net approx. 1.5 mil. A typical home game of the N Texas State caliber will typically net approx. 6 mil. for UT, thus you get the figure in the area of 4 mil, give or take. The difference in 2011 and 2012 is the number of home games.

Again, please send the link for your source.

Let me spell this out for you in very simple terms, sonce you seem to think "none of this is true."

The year that we are playing in the Chickfila game (2012), we already have 7 home games.

To move the North Texas/Montana game would put us at 6 home games for 2011. The Athletic Department budget is set up on a model that includes the ticket and concession revenue for 7 home games. Donors are also asked to donate their great sums of money with the guarantee of 7 home games.

The Chickfia game pays about $2.5 million less than a home game at Neyland Stadium.

We have informed the Chickfia Game people previous to this that we are always willing to give up a road non-conference slot to play in their game, but we cannot give up a home game.

Super jacked for this game.

Have always wanted to go to a game in a stadium that seats 100K +.

For those who care, here are highlights from our App State game. Gives you a little idea what gameday in Montana is like.

YouTube - University of Montana vs Appalachian State Highlights 2009

Welcome, my youngest daughter went to Montana, loved every minute of it, and I watched several games in Washington Stadium. Hope you can make the trip to Neyland, it will be a great experience.

I know...that's what I meant. They're in it for the money and exposure and the small chance of winning (Like Wyoming and Appy St did).

They are kind of like BYU with all the white boys. Amazing how those moron cbs and rbs are so good.

morons
that's a little strong for players that aren't even our rivals
I try to reserve words like that for Bama and Florida players. At least then we know the description fits.

The only link I could provide for you would be the one to the sound bite from Finebaum when they had the guy on. Pretty much the most credible, seeing as to how it came from the horses mouth. I dont think he would go on international radio and make something like that up, but if you dont believe me, i'm sure you can call into the show and they can confirm that it was lane who pushed for the game and then CDD's response.

North Texas wanted out and will pay Tennessee a buyout penalty. They claim that they want/need a home game to open up their season.
