Monday Presser

He said Pig failed his impact test. What's evasive about that.
He said, "when it's a concussion, you know it's a matter of time. It's seeing how that goes, so I will not know. He will have to take his impact test again and there is a lot of testing that goes into that before we can put an individual back on the field." He did not say he failed his impact test. Just said that he would have to take it again but he seems to have no idea when he will be taking it and when the results might be available. Just seemed evasive to me.

He called Williams and Vickers young when Harrington asked why Shy and KMac aren't paired with veterans.

Williams is 24 freaking years old and is a RS SR for goodness sakes!! Vickers is a 20 year old RS SO (obviously 3 yrs removed from HS). How much older can they be and who is buying that crap?!

Oh My! If he's saying that it just goes to show how out of touch he really is.

I only caught first third of presser; thought it interesting and pointed to hear CBJ comment that he's going to tuck it in his back pocket who the people are who are not with him.

Is he really that surprised by fan reaction or sports reporters analysis?

also, the repeated comments about his pride in the resiliency and maturation of his "football team". Geez, we know what kind of team it is...as soon as he gets in that phrase repetition, I'm clicking off,.....
anyway, I'm sure by now his staff has all the players restricting their social media, minimizing push back, etc...

but as tested as we/anyone can be by life.....isn't the acceptance/acknowledgement of the outcomes of our choices, negative they may be at times, a part of the maturation process?

I really hope CBJ can turn it around; the honeymoon never lasts forever; I just think any fans who have played any kind of organized sports is wondering: shouldn't we change a losing game?

same presser/different title date.

He's wrong. It's in there.

On the mobile website they toned it down... kind of softened up the question. It's not an exact transcript.

I think that Butch should have said a little more considering how much is being written about it... and the guy that asked the question claims that there is something to it. I hope it's nothing.

Utsports.com:
Addressing recent rumors regarding a team altercation)
"Yeah, absolutely ridiculous."

His body language stuck out to me. He knew the question was coming. (Or waiting for it) he asserted himself in the question. He mentioned crowder playing well not 4-5 mins before.

I like Tuttle and Mckenzie in the game at the same time. They are going to be All Americans very soon.

That's fine. But don't say that pairing KMac with Owen would still be a young interior.

Point was, he dismissed Heather Harrington labeling Owen and Vickers as veterans by saying "we're still young, this is only Owen's 2nd year and Vick's 2nd year".

No **** it's only Owen's 2nd year, you recruited a RS JUCO. How many years should we expect to have Williams in the lineup, other than 2, Butch?

It's Vickers' 2nd year of seeing the field because he was RS. He has 3 yrs of S&C, practice, scheme terminology etc.

This talk is a real problem in deflecting from the on field results. When he plays FR he uses the excuse their young (age and experience) and says ideally you wouldn't play so many FR. You'd instead RS what you can and get them ready. Then when he plays a RS he cites they're still young (only from an experience standpoint). The only way to not be young and inexperienced is to be a SR who's played meaningful snaps their entire career. Which in turn would require that they were young at one point. As long as a JR rides rhe bench because they're not needed, due to upperclassmen ahead of them, they'll be "young" the next year when they're getting their first significant snaps.

Bama loses a handful of underclassmen every year to the draft. They plug that hole with a guy who's been in the system but has little experience. Does Saban have an excuse for being young every year?

Does Dobbs seem a little testy? I've gotten an "over it" impression from him for two weeks.

He gets flamed all the time, has incompetent coaching, and some goofball fan mocked his medical condition while he was with his GF having dinner. Yeah, I'd say he is testy

I want to hear Butch at the dinner table. Does he sound robotic or does he keep it real?

" the individual who made this meal improved at every stage of the process, but 73% of that kitchen staff has never cooked in a fast paced environment, while 100% have never killed the meat themselves that they cook. I went with the burger because we have a chart and 68.6999 % go to the burger. We just have to stay true to the process, win the prep time, and represent this special institution. I've said before that this Chili's is a special place, one of the most special places in all of Knox County, and I look forward to getting better, every day. The plan is there. The meat is there. The menu is infallible, individuals just have to work on their execution."- and then he went on to "educate" the cook on proper food temps

I wonder if Tee Martin could tell from first impressions that Jones was a lot of talk.

Coach said (responding to media guy #1's question early in presser about player injuries), on Pig Howard: 'I'm sorry, and Pig Howard; Pig's uhh, has had a lot of nagging injuries; he's had an ankle, he's had an elbow, and then he also had a concussion, uhh, that occurred in the WCU game; and he's still suffering the, uuh, effects of the concussion; he did not pass his ImPACT Test (and) he did not pass his concussion test, umm, last week, so that's why you haven't seen him.' (Interestingly, the 'i'm sorry' was because Coach apparently forgot to include Pig in this injured players list, until the meeting conductor reminded him from the background).

Coach said also/ reiterating later at the end of presser at request of media guy #2's following up on the injury stuff, and about does Coach have reason to believe Pig Howard might be back this week/for him going forward, that: 'Alton Howard's status is, when it's a concussion, umm (shaking head), you know, it's a matter of time; it's seeing how that goes, so, I have, I will not know, uh, he'll have to take his ImPACT Test again and there's a lot of testing that, that goes into that before we put an individual back on the field. Alright, Thank you' (end of presser).
