I have come to the conclusion after losing to Kentucky that they will not be firing him mid-season. :(

What if Butch always wanted to resign on his own after a win, and Currie is letting him do it?

I'm not getting my hopes up but will be tuned in.

So, you're sayin' that the Vols will find a way to win vs Vandy, and then Butch will announce he is moving on...

I’m not getting my hopes up, it’s probably just a rumor like the firings.

Don't think you see anything change until the last game of the season. Completely different from what I believed 3 to 4 weeks ago.

When will it be held...and I followed the link, and searched, but could not find the presser for today...

U r right. Plus he would be an idiot to resign and forfeit millions of dollars on the buyout.

Whether or not he or UT announces today or 3 weeks from today, his buyout is going to be the same.... That's already been decided and negotiated IMO

I very seriously doubt he resigns however he probably will beat his chest over beating southern miss

“I’m excited for our kids to get back on the winning track,” Jones said. “Obviously, we have a great challenge going on the road next week (at Missouri) but it’s been a long time coming. They’ve been working exceptionally hard and it’s great to get a victory.”

Back on the winning track, folks! :dance2:

I strongly suspect nothing is happening because behind the scenes few if any are interested in this job. Top ranked team in the country is in your division and loaded for bear in the future, second ranked team is a rival game you play every year. So right off the bat hard road to win your division, let alone your conference. 9 wins and a good bowl will eventually get you fired. It’s a setup for failure. The next coach will be either padding the resume or his checking account.

Loser talk. Tennessee needs to start being Tennessee again. Good coaches aren't scared of competition.

I think its Currie giving Jones every chance he can to save his job. Why? Who knows but the powers that be want Jones here next year. If Jones wins 6 games and gets a bowl he will be the coach next year. People keep showing up for home games and the money keeps coming in there will be no coaching change.

This is why.. and I kinda throw up a little when I say it... we need to look at Kiffen IF we can't get Gruden. Kiffen wants to come back to Knoxville and has a grudge to be settled with Saben. Noone else we could hire will have the same fire to go after Bama and Georgia like Kiffen would. I know were all still butthurt over him quitting on us , but shy of Gruden... who else can you name that has the fire to beat our SEC rivals?:eek:lol:

I agree 100 percent . WE need Kiffin and Kiffin needs us. It would be the perfect match. we could get a favorable contract with huge buyout for us and small buyout for him if he started being well like Kiffin has been. Here is the deal one of these days Kiffin will become an adult and someone will take a chance on him . Kiffin will kill it when this happens because like him or not he can coach football and recruit.

Plus, another upside would be I think he would stick around when successful rather than jump ship for another program.
