You've nite said that 3 times. I get it.
Probably not the most eloquent, but pretty easy to get his point. Although, I think a simple no comment minus the lecture would've sufficed.
There is my point. If you don't want to comment, don't. If you don't want to discuss a specific injury, don't.
Further, if you are willing to discuss an injury (which Jones was clearly willing to do, whether he told the truth or lied) then say your piece and move on. Jones knows full well where the fight story originated. He knows that it wasn't made up by anyone in the media. Whether or not the story was true, he knows that it was a legitimate question. But, he is by no means obligated to answer any question, no matter how legitimate.
He chose to answer. The truth of that answer is not really the point. The point was somewhere in the rambling, disjointed diatribe. My takeaway is that he thinks the media should act as water-carriers for the program, or that the fans should be an amen corner loud enough to drown out the negative news.
Maybe you don't think that was his point. But I know how I took it, and I know how others in the press, radio, etc took it. This was not a good moment for Butch, and it was easily avoidable.
