Monday CJP Press Conference

So you can. Say, without a shadow of doubt, that Freeze doesnt have an ounce of loyalty to Liberty and would bolt on them immediately if offered? If so, tell me. How you know that.
It's called common sense. If you were working for Costco at an annual salary of $50K and Microsoft called and offered you a position making $2 million, would you stay at Costco just because they hired you when Microsoft wouldn't? Neither would Hugh Freeze stay for a salary of 1/3 or less of what UT would pay him, with players with 1/100th the talent and a job with 0.0% chance for career advancement for him.

In years 1-2, you still have over 50% of the roster being guys from previous coaching staff. And it’s been 1 game!

You can’t drop the “have we seen improvement” based on one game. I’m willing to wait until after a season is over to evaluate. Especially when it’s the first 2 seasons for a new coach.

Year 1 was a roller coaster. I just don’t think you can pass judgement on Pruitt based on his 13th game into the job. Year 3 is when i always expected to have serious expectations for him because of the recruiting issues with butch’s final 2 seasons. Year 3 is when he will have more of his own recruits on the roster than holdovers.

And then of course year 4 is when he gets most of his own kids on the field. Year 5 is when almost all of his recruits are on the field with experience, and Year 6 is when he has finally purged the old roster. Year 7 really marks the first year that he has a veteran roster of his own kids, with year 8 really beings the first true year that he has his own seniors under his own program, executing his system.

So, despite other top coaches showing improvement vice regression along the way, we should stick it in our pipe and smoke it until 2025 or so.

Got it. The UTAD appreciates your unqualified support.

There is a very good chance that he is humiliated and embarrassed and has no idea how to show it. He is most likely trying to slow play the whole thing so as not to alienate coaches or players. What other choice does he have? This Saturday night may as well be his Super Bowl.

You’re basically conceding that Pruitt doesn’t have a full deck to play with in terms of roster by not acknowledging that there may be some possibility that Butch’s players aren’t 100% buying in to Pruitt.

And in regards to your question, I have seen ups and downs with Pruitt in his first season. In his first two off seasons, I have seen nothing but success in recruiting.

We are 1 game into his second year. Anyone passing final judgement on whether he should be here or be fired is clearly not mature enough to understand basic management.

And this fan base is very PMS in terms of mood swings. We could come out and hang a 50-0 win on BYU and people would not talk about the GA State loss anymore.

Since you have passed final judgement on whether Pruitt can coach here, I fully expect you to bang that drum if he winds up succeeding here. If you can’t commit to that, you’re just yapping like a little dog

We aren't talking about being talented enough to win the SEC, we're talking about life-long football players that regardless of being recruited by Butch, were recruited by other schools as well. You can't argue that every player Butch recruited was actually a sub-one-star player, and that Pruitt can't be expected to coach them up, even a little.

Good coaches get more out of players, regardless of their ranking. Good coaches, are able to figure out who their best players are in spring and fall practice before the first game. You can toss out "what ifs" all day long, but there's has been nothing shown by Pruitt, his coaches, or the teams he has fielded that give any credence to UT being able to accomplish any of those "what ifs", literally nothing.

Man I don’t think beating Georgia State and making a bowl game “lofty expectations”

It’s clear people haven’t paid attention to UT football over the past decade because these types of games to lower opponents have been near losses we have flirted with for years. Why is everyone surprised now that it actually happened?

Pruitt’s job was always gonna take time given the shape of the program he inherited. It’s amazing people ignored this.

Way to miss the point. Butch is that you?

Glad your barometer for a coach being good or not is 13 games. Thanks!

Additionally, you’re fully judging Pruitt but not recognizing the fact that players he inherited may or may not have 100% bought in which happens every year with new staffs. It’s amazing how Tennessee is always supposedly unique and doesn’t have issues that other schools have

I find it funny that people believe a coach would “tank” his career just because they think he doesn’t like a program.... it would be career suicide. 😂 how about give the guy some time to see if he fixed the issues. You know like waiting until after the BYU game good lord... lol

He was bashed by the media last year for saying the players sucked etc and this year he is Atleast backing the players and coaches even in a crappy situation. You can’t have it both ways you either want it one way or the other.

Doubt he is actually happy with any of the stuff that went on this past Saturday. Calm down see what Saturday brings. Because if we demolish BYU on Saturday all of you guys claiming that he needs to be fired are going to look really stupid.

Man, it's so funny how watching the fan base turn on him, just like they did with Butch. Suddenly it's all fake and catch speak. Volnation meltdown at it's finest.
I’m just glad that many are coming over to the dark side. It’s been lonely over here for a year and a half.

He doesn’t seem to care

Yeah. I was hoping to hear him admit to being embarrassed or maybe admit to being too laid back or something. I still think we’ve got a good staff, but please don’t come out after a loss to GEORGIA STATE and talk about red zones and 3rd downs... would much rather him address the lack of competitiveness.
