mods need to take that picture of AJ off the homepage

Why not post the picture of the over exuberate police force. It was like 16 police cars pulling up to an apartment complex for a noise complaint.... ummmm, anything else happen at all that night, in any part of town???

Acted like it was a terrorist attack or something. Post that pic.

KPD got a little too fired up here IMO

Flip on the TV the next time a disaster hits. What exactly is my kind? To help you out I am a God-fearing American who grew up in a small farm town. I am well educated ( which I paid for), earn an honest living, and raise my kids to be morally responsible. I believe in an individuals rights, but my Bible also tells me to submit myself to my government. I'm not patting myself on the back, but if we had more of "my kind" my guess is we would have less problems.

If you think all laws are passed for our safety you're naive. Especially since I said the current regime. Have you paid any attention to what is going on with this country? Do you support NSA tracking everything you do? Will you be first in line to turn in your guns? That's the kind of the people they want to turn us in to.

Edit: that don't have ish to do with religion.

The report on the charges and picture both came from the same webpage on the Knox County Sheriff's Office site. AJ was the most recognizable name involved and I chose his picture. At the time, I didn't see the need to search for a picture of him celebrating or scoring touchdowns. I know that some of you may disagree.

It wasn't my intent to single him out or "eat our own", but in this case I don't see how the picture is any worse than the news of the arrest. It turned out to be a minor incident (in my opinion it sounded worse at first report), for which I'm thankful.

Regardless, we've posted several new articles on the front and that one has been bumped off the front page. So everyone can relax now. :hi:

I wasn't accusing you of "eating our own" but a mug shot makes him look like a common criminal. I don't see AJ as that while I completely disagree with his actions after the police involvement on Saturday night, he's not a criminal, but rather a guy who let the heat of the moment get the best of him, and who on here hasn't been in a situation that gets out of control. Correct me if I'm wrong but this site was created in support of the Vols, I don't see how we support the Vols by posting his mug shot. But, it's your site and I appreciate you for allowing me to express my views here.

The mugshot was the news. Sucks, but it is what it is. I am glad it has been bumped off the front page

The story was the news. The mug shot is sensationalism. I noticed on the FanSided story they posted a picture of AJ in his football uniform along with the story.

You said "your kind" and I was only stating what "my kind" was. I never once said all laws are created to protect my safety. I said most laws are created for our own good. As far as the NSA tracking everything I do....have at it they will get bored soon enough and give up. Many people are over paranoid about stuff. As a concealed weapon permit owner I am not in the least worried about "giving up my guns". How long has the paranoia over this gone on? Relax a little and you will enjoy life more.

You're using Fansided as an example why? Several sites used the police photo.

It's a judgment call and I explained why I made the decision I did. The site is in support of Tennessee, but that doesn't mean we turn a blind eye to anything negative.

And I don't consider it sensationalism when the photo is from the police report where the story originated. It's a mugshot for crying out loud, not a photo of him in stripes working on the chain gang.

For the record, in no way do I personally consider AJ a criminal. Not even close.

You are entitled to your opinion. I just disagree. It's a moot point now anyway.

Regardless, thanks for the feedback. :hi:

We'll just have to agree to disagree. Research mayors against illegal guns or whatever it is mayor bloomberg started and why he has starting losing followers. I don't think it's paranoia. It's not having people step on my rights. You give a little here and there and next thing you know lose a lot.
You can choose to believe that DC actually gives a crap about you if you want to.

Freak, I appreciate you and all your efforts on this board. It is the best place on the internet to discuss the Vols. I was in no way trying to discredit your work or this board.

I didn't take it that way at all. It's not a membership requirement to always agree with my decisions and/or opinions. :)

But thanks for the kind words. :hi:

Laws are passed for our own good because most people are too ignorant to know any better.
So, according to your logic, then...segregation laws were for everyone's good...cause Blacks were too black know any better? Huh? :loco:

Prohibition was a law, and it caused a lot of unecessary bloodshed, because of the sheer stupidity of it. Laws typically have idiots making them, so not all of them are for everyone's good.

I have a few things I'd like to give feedback on myself.

Shall we say lunch at noon next Tuesday to discuss.

And I mean if you feel like making me a mod by the time dessert comes who am I to say no.

Drinking beer was only part of the problem, ignoring the lawful commands of the police was the other, and that's why he went to jail.

I'm pretty sure if you will step off of the argumentative box for a second you will see what I was trying to say. I was referencing specifically the law to make 21 the legal age to drink. At 18 a majority of people are not mature enough to handle that responsibility (heck most are not at 21 either). We have 3 perfect examples to defend my case in this thread. No one said every law is perfect or has good outcomes, but I still feel many are created for the greater good of our society.

I'm with you: every law makes us all smarter and more responsible. Thank goodness congress at both the state and federal levels are filled with geniuses who are only concerned about the well being of the masses.

I wanna go to the 'beach of peace' and get my mellow on. On another note, I bet that attorney fee set you back the price of a few kegs of beer.
