I just wanted to take a minute and let VolNation how amazing Mo Couch is. He has gone above and beyond the call of duty and has showed me and my family what true love and compassion is all about. He is my hero and will forever be remembered by my family as a TRUE VOLUNTEER.
My 12 year old cousin Sam was accidentally shot in the leg with a deer rifle Saturday evening. After being airlifted to Vanderbilt hospital and after several surgeries the doctors were left with no choice but to amputate his left leg above the knee this morning. I reached out on twitter to several Vols for help and encouragement for the little guy. I got a response from Mo Couch, who asked for his information. Mo gave me a call and then called Sam's father. He couldn't talk to Sam because at the time he was in surgery. However, Mo offered to call Sam tomorrow, and he definitely will. He has offered to help out my family any way he can and even publically tweeted to everybody and requested that VolNation show their support for Sam!
Sam is awake now and in good spirits and cannot keep from smiling as he has been informed of Mr. Couch's deeds. Mr. Couch turned the darkest day in my cousin's short life into one of the brightest. Sam played defensive line and Mo is his hero. Now, thanks to Mo, my uncle and cousin have a positive memory that will be with them forever!
If anybody else has any connections in the AD and can offer similar support, please let me know. We will be having a benefit horse ride for Sam at a date to be determined where we will have a silent auction. Any Vols items you could donate would be greatly appreciated. All proceeds will go directly to Sam's medical expenses. Thanks for reading

Glad Sam's spirits are up. Prayers for him, though, as he adjusts to a completely new lifestyle. I'm glad we've got a guy like Mo Couch on the team that has compassion for his fellow neighbors.

I am glad to hear your cousin was all smiles. It's nice to hear his spirits are up after such a tragedy. Hopefully, it's a testament to his character that he remains optimistic.

Keep us updated on the specifics for the benefit and where to send gear?

Mo Couch is the best. What an awesome gesture. We've spoke a couple times on twitter and he seems like a genuinely nice person. This just solidified it. Prayers and thoughts to your cousin and family. Awesome story. Tell lil man keep his head up it could have been MUCH worse.

Best wishes to your cousin. I cannot even begin to imagine the road he has ahead, but it sounds like he has a good support system.

And thank you Mo Couch. You are the type of player that makes us proud and reminds us of what the Volunteer spirit is truly about. You are a credit to our team and our university. VFL

Sorry to hear about your cousin. Very tragic.

As for Mo, it just shows you the class that CDD is bringing in. Thank you Mo for repping Tennessee off the field in an awesome way.

Character is what you do when no one else is watching. Mo is solid.

Tell your cousin that the next time he goes hunting to leave Cheney at home. On a more serious note, wish for a full recovery,,,,and MO rocks.

This definitely puts things in perspective, doesn't it? Best wishes to your family, and I hope that everyone pulls through this tough time as strong as ever. Mo Couch is definitely one of my favorites now ... doesn't matter if he plays another down of football or not.
