Unless you are playing DD, all you are really getting for 50 bucks is early play. If you are playing DD, you get so much more that you will use by just getting the captains edition. I wont tell anyone how to spend their money, just looks like a poor deal IMO.

I'll kick it around. I've not found the pre-order bonuses to be really worthwhile after 2 weeks of release lately. Thanks for clearing up the differences !

It's wild. I will say that everything they do has worked out pretty well over the years with DD changes. I'm excited. Bearcat conned me into laying our for the $100 version

Im debating on getting this game, early results seem favorable but its still honeymoon phase time.
The new DD content looks great, and im mostly an offline DD player, but I get frustrated every year because I dont have the time to finish everything and my team usually falls behind quickly. Im going to give it about a month before I decide to grab it or not.

It's going to be difficult, it seems, to fall too far behind because you can have a 95 overall team just from doing the WBC program. Not sure where they go from here with such good cards at launch.

I've been watching some streams..... there are a ton of WBC cards that look fun to use.
Imo the best way to build a team is through BR runs but I'm not a good enough player to get more than a couple wins.

I think the timing of Set 1 leaving (early July?) lines up really closely with the all star break. So Set 3 is gonna be ASG cards... First from the past, then from this year + HR Derby. That'll be the big program to reload high overalls.

I am curious what Set 2's big program and new drop will be.

I say this knowing I could regret it, but I hope they stick to their guns and make the 1 Wild Card that carries over a really hard choice.

So I was doing some math.... gamepass for a year would cost me 180..... if I bought 4 gold cards and the show 23 it would costs around 160. So for 20 extra bucks i get access to several titles I would normally not have. I might just sign up for game pass.

I completed the Braves live series collection.

"But aren't you a Nationals fan??"

Yes, I am. I'll complete theirs eventually.

The Braves collection reward is a 92 Overall Smoltz. One of my wife's favorites. His card has Captain abilities that boost other live series Braves pitchers.

So Smoltz, Strider, and Fried in the rotation, then Iglesias and Minter doing some bullpen work. It's been fun.

Hitting just seems off.

I'm not advocating for bombs every swing but when you're 10-15 games in and there have been 2 home runs from either team, it's just different. Have seen plenty of other complaints about bats being "wet noodles" and that's about as accurate as I can describe it myself

Minter and Albies are underrated cards. They both play above their rating, imo.

It is gonna be so tough to move on from certain theme teams.

1. I am an exclusively offline DD player, so I don't necessarily have to push and push for the absolute god squad for ranked, etc.

2. I think the difference between an 87-97 range player - especially one you're confident with - and a 99 overall... just isn't huge. I find myself "pressing" with some fancy 99 card I target.

Those things said, I still love to cycle through a lot of cards. So I'm gonna wind up having a completely different Captains setup for Mini Seasons vs Conquest.

Ive had fun so far, dipped online just a bit with my usual crap results. I like the new throwing system but it's been hard breaking down years of muscle memory and getting used to it.

Pulled an Acuna out of pack...proceed to not be able to hit a beach ball with him. Meanwhile I'm hitting like .700 with WBC Nicky Lopez.

One missing aspect (and maybe it's coming)...

They should have Country Captains who boost players (WBC cards or other cards) from certain countries. Maybe make it be a mix of WBC and non-WBC cards to get the boost.

Obviously, places like Australia aren't gonna reap huge benefits. But the new 99 Machado should be the DR Captain, and so on.

The amount of perfect perfect outs right now should be a criminal offense. I just had a conquest game with 5 perfect perfects and all 5 were outs.
