If I saw someone throwing a bottle that was capable of inflicting injury on someone I'd rat him out in a minute. That's just plain ignorant and does not reflect true Vol fans. That just reflects drunks that should have stayed home better yet be in jail for attempted assault imo.

Students.. Heard bout it from the Mizzou folks also apologized for it.. One guy said our fans wouldn't do that because they rat each other out o well at least we don't snitch...

I'm really surprised people in CoMo made it out that Tenn folks where hillbillies?? We use to get that all the time from people who moved into our Area from Calif.,Ohio,Iowa etc. Thought we was the L' Abner ,Beverly Hillbilly land...

I will say this Missouri is a very weird state,we are bordered by 8 other states..most in the union so you get a lot of transplants bring different influences....you can break Mizzou down into different regions...the Ozarks and Boothill area have a Southern feel....St.Louis region has more of a eastern upper Midwest feel. KC region and is pure Midwest. So it depends on where you are at in the state. I'm from the Ozarks where hunting, fishing, leaf Tobacco,Rebel Flags in Truck windows with gun racks dominate.....Head to ST.L and KC not so much many of them folks think we are not from Mizzou....this diversity is a weakness and a strength.

If you're from Mizzou you should know its BootHEEL not Hill. There's not a hill anywhere to be found from Sikeston south.

Sorry must of not been paying attention when I typed that LOL You are correct HEEL LOL Sometimes I feel like I'm buried on BootHILL LOL. OH and I'm from Mizzou land Mtn.Grove MO..Home of Don Faurot....Field is named after him...big statue out front and Props to Him being from The Grove.....my handle confuses people...they think I'm a Ole Miss guy! The 68 was the year I was born and my high school football number!

I accidentally liked your post when I was shooting for the quote button. Unless things have changed, tickets are not $5 and students should ***** even if they were only $5. Students should be free, they pay a $300+ activity fee who's original intent was to cover tickets. What if a student has no interest in attending sporting events, can they opt out? No it's automatically part of tuition. If you're going to make students pay a fee then the money should actually cover something. its not the students fault that the UT A.D. manages money worse than a 10 yr old in Toys r Us.

When I went to UT (87-91), yes there was an activity card. I think ours was like around $150 if I can remember correctyly.....you actually got your ticket punched back then and you only had so many. It was good for home football, basketball games etc and if I remember correctly concerts on the campus. I saw REM and a few others while I went to UT. I also was there for the first BB game in Thompson-Boeling.:twocents:

From 04-07 when I was there all sporting events were free. Take your student ID to the ticket office in the UC and they hand you a ticket for football, all other sports just swipe your ID at the gate.

I think this is the first time that I've ever posted on here. I typically get on here just to catch up recruits and whatnot, but this is something I thought I should share. My girlfriend and I sat in Section N last night behind a middle aged couple that were Mizzou fans. The lady there could not stop complimenting us and how great Knoxville was. At one point I caught her clapping along to Rocky Top, which was great. She went on about Smokey, how amazing the stadium was and everything else. In the second half, the band played "Hey Baby" and she began to dance along, but not soon after that, one of our fans threw something at her, which looked to be a hand warmer and told her to sit down. Of course the lady's husband was ready to fight, but no one was really able to identify who threw it. I just thought that was classless on behalf of our fan base. This woman was thrilled to be in OUR stadium only to be belittled by someone that has no respect for anyone, much less themselves to do something like that. Naturally the UT fans surrounding her, including myself, apologized on this persons behalf, but it was hard to see that take place after someone on the outside was so excited to be a part of what we have. I just hope that behavior doesn't tarnish our perception of being one of the best fan bases in the country.

I agree. It goes both ways, that's pretty sickening that someone did that from our fan base. Also kind of sucked to see people filing out by the thousands when we were down 16 with almost 10 minutes left in the game. Luckily enough people stuck around that it didn't turn into a total mizzou party like the Bama game that year.

Mizzou fans were pretty nice. UT fans got very frustrated as the game went on, and Mizzou fans started dishing it back.

A lot of UT fans wore black or gray last night. You had to look for the T to see who was who.

The people I talked with said there was some doucheness going on.. I didn't see any and hate when our fans do it, I did apologize to them also..

I sat in section O last night with my little sister, who is currently a grad student. It was the first time I have sat in the student section since I graduated and I was kind of excited to do so. The actions by our students were deplorable. The drinking doesn't bother me but the falling down drunk, can't even open your eyes does. I could tell by half time it was going to deteriorate. I told a couple of security guards they needed to watch the area but to my surprise there was nothing done. Bottle throwing just capped of the night. Not only were they throwing bottles (and anything else they could get their hands on) at the players but at a group of Missouri fans as well. Something must be done to get control of that area!

I lived in Columbia, Missouri for a couple years. People up there acted surprised that I wore shoes because I was from Tennessee. I was asked more than once if I'd grown up going to a one-room schoolhouse. They have nothing but contempt for the south and they have no business being in our conference. All they are is a bunch of redneck kids with cows*** on their shoes who are starstruck at going to the one decent college in the state. You'd think that "pretentious redneck" would be an oxymoron, but not in Columbia, Missouri.

I don't believe you.

Ours did the wave last week while our player was down.

Wasn't meaning to imply their fans were terrible. Just the one thing I noticed. The wave is horrible, no matter the timing. Lord help those unfortunate ones in the section with the idiots wanting to start the wave.

Also, they have a really good coach. If he could recruit they could compete for a natl title.

I used to like their coach ... until I saw him complaining to the refs about our hurt players late in the game. I'm sorry if it inconvenienced him that our guys got injured and made his clock stop. :disappointed:

I know. I griped about Florida cheering when we had a player down. I posted on Facebook that their coach didn't have any more class than the fans. Then our own fans pull that crap when we're playing Kentucky. Nobody in my section stood up. Probably because I was saying, "Really? The wave? We've got an injured player on the field! Stupid people!"

I was at the game and had a great time. Though, there was a middle-aged man who ran down 10 rows to yell right in our faces after you guys scored.

After the game he did come down and apologize though, which I thought was pretty classy.

Great town and great experience. Looking forward to coming back in two years.
