I worry that something that is basically just a rumor that may turn out to be completely false quickly turns into a totally undeserved player bashing session. My gut intuition is caution and wait for facts to emerge.

This looks like a real s show and I can understand players recoiling from that - but part of me wants to point out to them that plenty of pro players come from less than ragingly successful programs, it doesn't stop pro scouts from seeing you, and missing a bowl game or 2 or 3 is not a deal-breaker in that regard. Makes me want to encourage them to chill at least for a few breaths, give a little time for some coaching details to emerge (eg, Gardner would be a good thing - Steele as a lb coach is a good thing - and the fact that White emerged this quickly suggests they aren't going to sit on everything forever), think a little about VFL ideals (hopefully part of why you came here - though I realize that maybe borders on naive for some). There is also some character appeal / creds for sticking through challenging times with brothers.

Then there are those - and I have no idea who they are, if any - that may have come here strictly for shady, mercenary, highest bidder reasons - that perhaps have no commitment whatsoever to VFL ideals. To the last bunch - if there are any - fu and good riddance.

Anybody else rolling similar conflicting thoughts around in your head?

These players all contributed to a 3-7 season. So doesn’t matter how much talent we put on the field if they can’t work together. They feel that Pruitt was wrongly terminated. However, many regressed or didn’t see their game elevated while here. So if they go yeah it sucks as many were good players but see ya guys.

Departing players have been the rest of CBJ recruits or players that were not going to play that much. The 3 big ones it's hard to say with them because if everything is true surrounding them then they would have never played another down at Tennessee no matter what. I view everything happening right now with departures is simply UT removing the guilty in one way or another to look good for the NCAA. We didn't gain anything by doing it and pretty much it's not going to change the position we have been in only make it worse so by cleaning everything up and shipping everyone out maybe they don't hit us as hard.

If those dude's only came for the coach and not the school then I feel sorry for them. Our new AD is going to hire the next Saban and those players will be sorry they left.

Let me lay this out for you, cheating happens everywhere. When Pruitt said he had never seen anything like the BS at Tennessee what do you think he meant? Programs like Georgia, Florida state, Bama remove any and all obstacles for the football program short of felonies. Those programs also have systems in place to incentivize joining their programs.

When we blew the whistle on Pruitt unfortunately we blew the whistle on several kids within our program. Tennessee administration basically snitched on their own kids. This is going to cost us dearly not only in player defections now but in recruiting in the future. Don’t be surprised if our coaches aren’t allowed on some high school campuses in the future. Kiffin was already going to be a problem in Memphis now even moreso.

Wish them the best; however, any player that transfers to Alabama, Georgia, or Florida, I hope the pull hamstring and are out 2 full years.
You know a pulled hammy only takes a few months recovery time?

The really good sophomores were planning on trying the NFL after the 2021 so they are just trying to pick the best opportunity for them...I’d love for them to stay but with the coaching change I see a real benefit for them to pick the team that best showcases their talent.
Bill King was talking today and said he thought T’Oo T’Oo would start on Ohio State or Clemson and being surrounded by the talent they have his stock would go way up. Also mentioned that Gray could easily play for a top five team and be a significant contributor If not the out right #1 RB.

Worst mistake Tennessee made was allowing backstabbing Austin Pope back.

1) he left and anyone going portal should realize they’re gone
2) he threw his teammates under the bus on the way out. Who wants to play with a guy like that?
3) Pope isn’t good enough for this. “There’s two sets of rules. Once you realize the rules that apply to you, the better off you’ll be”

If they were paid, you would think it would buy some loyalty.

Because it's looking like they didn't want to come to Tennessee to make it relevant again.

If their intentions were to make things better, you would think they would at least stay to see who is the new head coach will be.

Just sounds like most are scared dirt will be dug up during these investigations. You look more guilty when you run away.

I hope the guys who leave avoid our competition and find places where they can really show out and have fun playing football.

The youngsters today need a better role model.

Who’s idea was it to sweeten the deal? If it was the youngster’s, someone had to teach them. I blame it on TV.
