Unless we lose another coach, or CLK decides to move him (or someone else) to RB coach, he will not be here. Has more to do with an open spot, than money.

Syracuse i think...

You're right it is Syracuse but anybody know how much longer they will pay him? Is this the last year on that deal? Also he's a GA so does that mean he is enrolled in classes to be able to be a GA? I could be wrong but I thought you had to be a graduate student to be a graduate assistant. Like I said that may be wrong and way off, anybody know for sure?

I think Syracuse is no longer "on the hook" to him, after this year.

So unless we hire him as a position coach, he will most likely take a job elsewhere.

Whoever deserves the most credit for the OL play needs to be paid well at UT. We certainly weren't dominate but they played as well as they possible could with the talent they have. Wish some of our other OLs would have been coached that well.

I'm just glad that he chose to lend us his services for this year. We didn't have a coaching vacancy that fit his experience, and as yet, we still don't. He got something out of it, as did we...and I hope he does get the job at ND. That would be a great opportunity for him, although he's more of an OC, and an OL coach still is a bit of a step down for him.

That's what happens when you gamble and take the job on a sinking ship. If you don't manage to straighten the ship, it really takes you down a few rungs on the ladder.
I hope he gets a position similar to what Chaney currently has...part OL/part OC.

Chaney, Browning, and Cregg all worked pretty extensively with the OL from what I remember.

I think Cregg had the tackles, Chaney had the inside, and Browning just helped with everyone

I wonder what will become of Chester McGlockton (sp?)...What Browning was to the OL, Chester was to the DL. We forget about him, but man, having a former Pro Bowl NFL DL working with the guys in the trenches along with CEO...that's priceless.

I wish we had a spot for him as well...although, I read an article on him this summer, and I think he's had so many injuries from his days in the NFL that he can barely stand on the sidelines sometimes. Wish the reporters covering the Vols would devote some time to letting us know what's going on with him.

I think he has one more year, right?

For some reason, I'm thinking GAs have 2 years if they want it as long as they're enrolled in a class.

Edit: Well actually, idk. Inky has been here a few years now. But since he's like head GA is that different or something? I'm not real big on the GA rules.

Well, there is no way Mitch would be a GA unless there wasn't the loophole to exploit, regarding his contract w/ Syracuse.

It was simply a pitstop for him. As he likely didn't have any glaring options...he would certainly have had to take a major paycut to get on somewhere as a position coach instead of of Coordinator.

Smart move, I think. He put himself in position to learn the USC system CLK brought in, collect his OC paycheck from Syracuse...and possibly be in position to take a position here if one opened up.

I was talking about Chester.

I knew that Mitch wasn't gonna stay because he's not getting paid by Cuse anymore after this year.

I am hearing this is almost a done deal, and CBK might be looking at a member of our staff also.
