Hypothetically. If you were an athlete and had a chance for a full ride to go to Missouri? Woulda?

My pt is that it would take Missouri to be the only offer to play football or said sport, with no lower tier offers for me to entertain stepping foot near that ****hole ever again.

Other crap holes include, Nebraska, Kansas, and eastern Colorado. Missouri is such a hole of dookie. Tennessee is so much better than that option, that this does deserve its own thread.

KSU is most definitely in the middle of nowhere.

The only football college in Eastern Colorado is UNC in Greeley and that is an hour from Denver.

Mizzou-Columbia is an ok town, 90 minutes from KC or St Louis. They have good fan support. I would rather be there than tuskalooser or the aptly named Starkville.

As for Nebraska, like Tennessee, they have a rabid fan base that has deep roots all the way to Colorado.

If I were to go to a school based on football, after Tennessee, I would probably choose GA, LSU or TX...Maybe the Hogs in their glory years. Ole Miss has a vibe I'm told.

Mizzou, however, is 100% a nicer campus than UT. And it isn't even close.

I am NOT saying that the state of Missouri is better than the state of TN or even our East TN region, because it is not. Columbia is not as nice overall as Knoxville. But as far as campuses are concerned, its UT that is the **** hole (an opinion widely shared by anyone who has visited UT's campus).

And as far as the competition between the two schools on the field is concerned, I think looking at the programs over the past ten years will only lead to one conclusion: there is no big disparity in the football opportunities presented by both programs. Both graduate their athletes and send some to the NFL. But Mizzou has been to 3 conference championship games in the last ten years, compared to UT's one.

I'd say if we didn't know Mizzou was a threat last year well that was the whole league's wake up call. The fact that they are NOW in a superior conference and have a stable situation coaching wise is good too. You can say what you want about the Big 12 years but Pinkel is a great coach.

Lived in MO for 12 years now and love the place and people. Part is probably a matter of perspective and part where you lived. I don't care for St Louis but as cities go I'd live there before I'd ever consider Memphis. KC is a "rural" city. There are rough pockets but less so than other comparable cities.

The people are friendly and neighborly minus the phoniness you so often find around the south.

I have some friends from mizzu and some of them refer to it a mizzery. Seem's like a super awful place to live to the east TN boy.

Grew up in western NC. No. It isn't an awful place to live. "Mizzery" is a joke that we use when its cold and the wind is blowing 50 mph. It isn't a general opinion for most who live here.

Fact is, local kids love missouri. I hate it here, but I am a southern boy. Not sure about O'fallon, Illinois. 10 miles east of St. Louis. Most of the people I know up here like one of 3 schools: Mo, Ks, or Ks State. The people up here aren't nearly as polite and friendly as they are down south. Makes it harder to teach manners to the kids because most kids up here don't have any.

Wow. I've been here for 12 years and couldn't hold much more different of an opinion. People here are very nice and friendly but they aren't as fake with their politeness. We noticed that they do not use sir, ma'am, and such also but that isn't all there are to manners or respect.

No one gives a crap about Big 12 Championship games.

Mizzou will be a lot closer to the pack next year with all of the talent they're losing. They will not be a powerhouse SEC football program. They're going to be the type of school who is up & down depending on how many upperclassmen they're fielding.

Heck, who knows. If this new rape case goes badly their way, it could be a Penn State-lite type of punishment. Lack of institutional control is a killer, and this thing reeks of it.

tennessee is genuinely the most beautiful place ive ever lived. period.

the campus at tennessee may not be the most scenic. but from tradition all the way to facilities. THIS is SEC football. there is NO gameday thata even close. no campus that has more pageantry. no school with better colors, no college with better looking women.

i tell my wife she is pretty but when she wears her UT colors. she may be the most beautiful woman on Earth!

Yeah that high school football stadium is the bomb. And Mizzouri's football history can't hold UTs jock. That's what's not even close. Funny you cherry pick the last 10 years that include 2 seasons, this year and in 2007 that were aberration from what is normally Missouri football. Missouri football and their Vanderbiltesque stadium is generally an average to below average program. Tennessee has had the worst 6 year run in their 117 year history. And as far as campuses go, based on the stadium, I'm assuming their money obviously goes elsewhere on campus so it may be a possibility.

Last year Aldon Smith and Justin Smith played in the superbowl, both former MU D linemen. They also played in the NFC CG last week, making the total number of D linemen from UT and MU who played last weekend equal.

I agree that it would be surprising if MU won the SEC in the next ten years. But I also think the same can/should be said about Tennessee at this point.

I chose the last ten years as a reference window because that is the only relevant time period for recruits right now, which was the underlying foundation of the opening post - recruits.

Finally, are you really bragging about TN being closer to a beach than MU???? Respectfully, there is no beach in this state, so you are trying to piggy-back off of either SC, GA, or Alabama for a resource that TN doesn't even have. Congratulations!!!!

I was proving the point that Mizzery makes Memphis look like a convenient place to live. I lived in Memphis and hated being land locked. You may enjoy being land locked and if that is the case you deserve to live in Mizzery. (oh yea your actions speak louder than your words as you live in Knox instead of Mizzery because deep down you know which local is superior)

I have family in Mizzery and have been there about 10 times. They actually hate it there but is there for job reasons...anyways...

They have a house on the lake of the ozarks which is supposed to be nice. After I get through Nashville I have to drive 12 hours through the middle of nowhere to even get there. Once you get there the lake is so freakin crowded it is not even enjoyable to be on a boat. Terrible just not fun.

I'm sure you have seen a pristine lake in the middle of the mountains in east TN.

There are good things about the state such as the cardinals. I enjoy hanging out in the Lou watching them play and hanging out in the landing bars. Also watching E.B. and the chiefs is nice

Cherry picking stats kills your credibility immediately. So does missing that Tony McDaniel, Robert Ayers, and Malik Jackson count as 3 players not 2. Why does the '10 year window' count as the only relevant period? Says who you? Did you personally go ask the players if a 10 year window was the only relevant time period to assess?

And no, Missouri recruiting 2 star players are less likely to get back to the SEC championship game than a program with more tradition, a better stadium, better facilities, and way more players in the NFL. Comparing the 2 even during UTs down period is a joke.
