Just a stupid law. If someone wants to contend for a Darwin award, let 'em do so freely. Silly stuff like this wasting court time. It's why it takes years for legit cases to be resolved.

No legit cases are routinely delayed because of attorneys

Driving correctly and not having "accidents" reduces injuries more. Driving in the rain/fog with no headlights reduces "accidents". Driving impaired is infinitely more dangerous. Seat belt laws do nothing to reduce that. With the majority of drivers having insurance, through multibillion dollar companies, seat belt laws were pushed by them to improve their bottom line, reduce their liability, allow larger mansions for executives. We all see many many many more situations that are "accident potential" every time we venture forth in our vehicles. None of us look at the car next to us and comment on their seat belt issue. It's an easy ticket and a probable cause to pull over someone without any other violation, never know when Roscoe P Coltrane might get that big drug bust on his record.

Like motorcycle helmet laws, which are proven to drastically improve the chances of the rider's survival in any sort of crash, it's a cryin' shame that laws have to be implemented just to prevent people from dying out of their own stupidity. Those overwhelming statistics which practically scream out the dangers of not using these most sensible precautions, simply denote the arrogant ignorance of those who mock simple common sense. I suppose you aren't disposed to wearing your seat belt, either. 'Hope you don't have kids.

Those same judges can and do handle other cases depending on absences by filling in. So, if instead of 5 days a week of time on seat belts, jaywalking, missing taillight, tires too wide, etc. They could have maybe 2 days, less even, and the other days handle more important cases and clear backlog, or their simply wouldn't be a need to have as many personnel working on taxpayer money handling petty fines. People having to miss work days to sit for 4 hours for a 2 minute show receipt. Filling up detention centers and arraignment times with those who didn't pay a frivalous ticket. Smaller prisons, etc. Less taxes even if things worked right. Sounds good to me.
Whatever man. Our courts have plenty of issues but traffic tickets aren’t anywhere near the top.

I was hit head on late at night by a 21 year old girl who was drunk AND texting at the time. She was bragging how she "had full coverage"...but it was one of those 3rd rate insurance companies operating out of the south side of Chicago. That company does EVERYTHING to delay paying of claims right up to the point where they legally MUST to keep their license active in the state. Even though there was absolutely zero fault on my part I was continually questioned as to my part in her crossing the median...drunk and hitting me. "How fast was I going"...."Had I smoked marijuana or taken any medications 24 hours prior to the crash"..etc etc..

They may not be near the top of an issue, but my response was in reference to those judges/courts capability to be utilized in handling other cases. However, traffic court is one of the biggest wastes of time for the working citizen. Don't have your insurance card up to date when you get pulled, gotta spend half a day or more just to bring it in and show it. Taillight burnt out, 2 dollars to fix, 60 dollar ticket to pay or half a day pay to show the receipt. The court system is a model of inefficiency.

All of those hassles are avoided by having a current insurance card and decently maintained vehicle. That’s not the fault of courts. There’s minimum safety and insurance standards for the good of everyone on the road. Each driver has his own minimum responsibilities - do those things and you won’t ever deal with the hassle of traffic court.

Well, no I don't. My kids do, when they are adults and driving their own car. They can choose what they wish. Motorcycle helmets can have zero impact(dead or no head injury), complete impact(protect your life or head completely) or any degree in-between(protect and cause injury), all depending on the crash style. If we're gonna legislate choice, or stupidity, as you call it from your perspective. I'm going to assume you are a follower and enjoy being given your direction. How about we legislate things that matter to the world at large, not the individual. Birth rate, ever watch Idiocracy. Idling police cruisers outside the gas station, donut shop, etc. Save gas, reduce pollution. Legislating stupidity is in itself a perspective discussion. Ones man's junk is another treasure comes to mind.

Yes, there is always that simple solution. Too bad we aren't all perfect in our record keeping and don't walk around our vehicle don't safety checks like you do before ever getting in the vehicle. They simply broke the mold when you were created.

The state has no business protecting us from ourselves. I hate a seatbeat and only wear one to avoid explaining it to my 9 year old daughter.

He's riding a 🐎 and he's wearing his Tennessee hat and boots. What most everyone who know how to ride wears when riding horses.
According to the CDC, researchers estimated that for each year the study encompassed, more than 11,500 people sustained traumatic brain injuries from horse-related incidents. Just pointing out the irony/hypocrisy of the post.(Not your post; sameolvol's post) I'm cool with the TN gear! ;)

How hard is it to go to court when your suppose to?

Dudley these football players are taken advantage of in such drastic ways that can't even afford the gas cost for the trip to court. We just need to pay them and let them decide if and when they show up to court

So your telling me there’s no way this guy does not have 1 friend who’s got a car that he can get a ride from? Seems simple enough. If a bum can make it to court he can too.

People like you and I don't know what the struggle of a college football player is like.
