Driving correctly and not having "accidents" reduces injuries more. Driving in the rain/fog with no headlights reduces "accidents". Driving impaired is infinitely more dangerous. Seat belt laws do nothing to reduce that. With the majority of drivers having insurance, through multibillion dollar companies, seat belt laws were pushed by them to improve their bottom line, reduce their liability, allow larger mansions for executives. We all see many many many more situations that are "accident potential" every time we venture forth in our vehicles. None of us look at the car next to us and comment on their seat belt issue. It's an easy ticket and a probable cause to pull over someone without any other violation, never know when Roscoe P Coltrane might get that big drug bust on his record.
Whatever man. Our courts have plenty of issues but traffic tickets aren’t anywhere near the top. Those same judges can and do handle other cases depending on absences by filling in. So, if instead of 5 days a week of time on seat belts, jaywalking, missing taillight, tires too wide, etc. They could have maybe 2 days, less even, and the other days handle more important cases and clear backlog, or their simply wouldn't be a need to have as many personnel working on taxpayer money handling petty fines. People having to miss work days to sit for 4 hours for a 2 minute show receipt. Filling up detention centers and arraignment times with those who didn't pay a frivalous ticket. Smaller prisons, etc. Less taxes even if things worked right. Sounds good to me.
Is that you in your avatar? Were's your protective gear?Like motorcycle helmet laws, which are proven to drastically improve the chances of the rider's survival in any sort of crash, it's a cryin' shame that laws have to be implemented just to prevent people from dying out of their own stupidity. Those overwhelming statistics which practically scream out the dangers of not using these most sensible precautions, simply denote the arrogant ignorance of those who mock simple common sense. I suppose you aren't disposed to wearing your seat belt, either. 'Hope you don't have kids.
Then I’m gonna have to be more careful what I say on here.Gimme a hint of who you are or how I would know you?
I vaguely recognize the dogs name, I just can’t place it— wish we could do messaging on here again. Home setting? Or outpatient?@supersmo18 my dogs name is “Blue” and you’ve worked with my wife in the past.

All of those hassles are avoided by having a current insurance card and decently maintained vehicle. That’s not the fault of courts. There’s minimum safety and insurance standards for the good of everyone on the road. Each driver has his own minimum responsibilities - do those things and you won’t ever deal with the hassle of traffic court. They may not be near the top of an issue, but my response was in reference to those judges/courts capability to be utilized in handling other cases. However, traffic court is one of the biggest wastes of time for the working citizen. Don't have your insurance card up to date when you get pulled, gotta spend half a day or more just to bring it in and show it. Taillight burnt out, 2 dollars to fix, 60 dollar ticket to pay or half a day pay to show the receipt. The court system is a model of inefficiency.

The state has no business protecting us from ourselves. I hate a seatbeat and only wear one to avoid explaining it to my 9 year old daughter.Like motorcycle helmet laws, which are proven to drastically improve the chances of the rider's survival in any sort of crash, it's a cryin' shame that laws have to be implemented just to prevent people from dying out of their own stupidity. According to the CDC, researchers estimated that for each year the study encompassed, more than 11,500 people sustained traumatic brain injuries from horse-related incidents. Just pointing out the irony/hypocrisy of the post.(Not your post; sameolvol's post) I'm cool with the TN gear! He's riding aand he's wearing his Tennessee hat and boots. What most everyone who know how to ride wears when riding horses.

Dudley these football players are taken advantage of in such drastic ways that can't even afford the gas cost for the trip to court. We just need to pay them and let them decide if and when they show up to court
