Just a stupid law. If someone wants to contend for a Darwin award, let 'em do so freely. Silly stuff like this wasting court time. It's why it takes years for legit cases to be resolved.
You think the same courts and judges who handle traffic tickets also handle the high profile violent crime cases? And this is the reason why a case may take 2 years to get to trial? Well bless your heart....Just a stupid law. If someone wants to contend for a Darwin award, let 'em do so freely. Silly stuff like this wasting court time. He was also driving on a suspended license. Seat belts reduce the severity of injuries since not wearing one doesn’t always result in a fatality after a wreck. When someone goes to the hospital with extreme injuries the hospital has to treat them. That treatment costs a lot of money. If the person being treated can’t pay then the hospital has to eat the cost. They make up for that by raising the rates for the people that can pay. So in the end the responsible people get to pay for the stupid people

Those same judges can and do handle other cases depending on absences by filling in. So, if instead of 5 days a week of time on seat belts, jaywalking, missing taillight, tires too wide, etc. They could have maybe 2 days, less even, and the other days handle more important cases and clear backlog, or their simply wouldn't be a need to have as many personnel working on taxpayer money handling petty fines. People having to miss work days to sit for 4 hours for a 2 minute show receipt. Filling up detention centers and arraignment times with those who didn't pay a frivalous ticket. Smaller prisons, etc. Less taxes even if things worked right. Sounds good to me.
Driving correctly and not having "accidents" reduces injuries more. Driving in the rain/fog with no headlights reduces "accidents". Driving impaired is infinitely more dangerous. Seat belt laws do nothing to reduce that. With the majority of drivers having insurance, through multibillion dollar companies, seat belt laws were pushed by them to improve their bottom line, reduce their liability, allow larger mansions for executives. We all see many many many more situations that are "accident potential" every time we venture forth in our vehicles. None of us look at the car next to us and comment on their seat belt issue. It's an easy ticket and a probable cause to pull over someone without any other violation, never know when Roscoe P Coltrane might get that big drug bust on his record.
I approve of any and all Seinfeld gif references.
BTW, I’ve seen you on this board a long time— you live in Dalton, GA?
I want Mizzou healthy and with zero excuses when we reestablish dominance and the real pecking order of the SEC East again starting today with them. WGWTFA!!!!
Crap happens to teams all the time. But Nance isn't going to be suspended for a seat belt violation. That would be stupid. Not me. This team is on a nice roll, but let's not pretend UT is better than it really is. I'd prefer Missouri be tired, beat up, suspended, etc. I want 7 wins and will take any stroke of luck for us or misfortune for the opponent I can get. Don't care about excuses. I want the win any way this team can get it.
There are plenty of laws out there that seem as though time could be better spent enforcing other offenses but I’m curious, if having a seatbelt law in place can save just one life is it worth it to you?Yep. We have enough to deal with in our court/legal system. Something like a silly seat belt citation is akin to going to the ER for a pimple on your ass. I'm not equating traffic court with serious trials. Just pointing out that our resources would be better spent on other, more serious issues than giving out citations for seat belt violations. Just another way to grab a buck from the citizenry. Ridiculous law.
Then I’m gonna have to be more careful what I say on here.I was driving in Dalton earlier this week, stopped at traffic light and I hear a horn beeping. I start looking around and a car pulls up beside me and gives me a thumbs up and a go Vols. I’m sure it was because of the Power T stickers I have on my back window. I loved it.
Also, we definitely know each other Smo.
UT staff would get roasted if we did this....regardless, we are still gonna stomp a mud hole in Mizzou
