everybody who said we would be 5-7 or 6-6 this season but just needed to look competitive against superior teams like Oregon and Florida............we did it. We got spanked by Oregon (who is a legit top 5 team), but hung with them for 2.5 quarters. We lost by two scores to Florida by 14 (who is a legit top 15 team). We showed promise of what is to come, but obviously didn't show that we've arrived.

Basically, if you called for 5-7 or 6-6 this season, you have nothing to complain about because this was our best case scenario at this point. If you expected 5-7 and are b#tching now, then you are just here to complain regardless. If you expected better, then you have a legitimate gripe, but were probably delusional to begin with. I think we've performed admirably to this point. I'm excited of things to come (late season and next year)

I don't believe that any VOL accepts mediocrity. Based on our performance today, we will rise above the level of a middle tier SEC team. Good things are ahead of us. Git 'er done VOLS!!

We haven't accomplished a damn thing. We might have hopeful signs for the future, but accomplishments? Not a chance.

That's how I was last year. Scenario: Mark Richt gets fired and Georgia hires Dooley.

There are truths to both of your statements. There is hopeful signs... and yes, there are no tangible accomplisments.,

we have played well at at times but ut seems to fall apart when big plays go against them, last week we played great, then a int returned for td,let the gates open.which was one of 3plays over 70 yards for td a long run and a kick return, and in flordia game the first simms int cost ut a td but the fake punt and the second simms int let them get two td lead which looking at final score take away the two simms ints vols should have gotten atleast a fg maby a td and other turned to be a td for gators.my opionion is simms needs to make better decisions and the vols need to improve on oline which will happen but it needs to happen this year there youth shows, but they can finish ok this year but have got to limit turnovers on offense and have to create more big plays and turnovers on defense, and penelty,s need to be called both ways i saw three or four plays holding should have but wasnt against gators, with there youth i can see them winning sec in a couple years with a veteren team, but i hope they can win atleast seven games cause dd will be a very good coach if giving time and people will be yelling for his fireing if vols dont win 6or more.and seeing all the youth playing at tennessee swems like it would help land better recruits with all those top recruits at flordia rideing the pine

Tangible accomplishment = improvement from last week.

With a young team, that's often the most important.

Next big lesson, IMHO, learn how to win.

For this team, that will be the November stretch, and if they learn that one, the bowl game.

They learned a lot about why your supposed to bring the fight for 60 minutes. Only a fool would say otherwise. They are growing before our eyes. Good deal. I'm not anywhere near satisfied, but they took the lesson of the week to heart, and it showed.

All I have to say is this. Everything the coaches and players wanted to improve on this week, they did. The intensity was there and We hung in there for four quarters with a top ten program, who may or may not be overrated, but regardless. I think we are headed in a good direction. We have a long, long, long way to go. But I did see progress tonight. Don't get me wrong, I'm still very upset that we lost and feel as though we should have won the game had it not been for a couple of key mistakes.

our offense showed some signs of life in the passing game today. If we can get our oline to be more consitent blocking , we might be able to move the ball. Lets not forget, Simms threw for almost 300 yards today.
