Looking through our 2012 roster I am excited not only because of the adequate depth we have for the first time in the Dooley regime, but also at the mismatches we could use to give our opponents something to have to gameplan for during the week...

OFFENSE

Our offense as a whole has scary potential this year. Our passing attack could be the best in the country. Our line will be better and have great depth. Our receiving corps might be the best we have ever had. Our running game is a big ? going into the season, but with Lane having a year to learn and and offseason to get healthy plus the addition of Jay Graham and the potential of Bourque we have hope for success there as well.

In passing situations we could look to use "Pig" as a RB. He could be used similarly to how the Vikings use Percy Harvin in their offense. He would propose a huge mismatch in coverage on a LB or S.

In running situations we could use Richardson to come in and be an extra blocker (as a TE) or to pass protect similarly to how the Jets and Patriots bring in an extra lineman in the NFL. Richardson could be an absolute BEAST for us...

Cam Clear and Mike Rivera give Tennessee the most dynamic TE we've had since I can remember. Tennessee has produced a few good TE (Witten, Cottam, Stocker) but we've never had more than 1 dynamic TE at one time. Having these two to use in a 2 TE set now makes us a threat and gives us an advantage in passing situations. I'm excited to see how Cheney uses these guys this year.

The "playmaker group" of: Howard, Watson, and Young give us a speed and open field ability we have lacked in our offense since LaMarcus Coker... All of these guys are smaller speed guys with big time "make you miss" abilities. Howard will also see time at the slot receiver, but all should contribute either in specialty packages on offense, or in the return game.

Our running game will be better than last year. With our receivers coming back and the new guys as well, they will help "take the top off the defense" and allow our RB to see more 7-8 man boxes rather than being outnumbered. The addition of Jay Graham should help this group of RB out a lot as well. It will be interesting to see who of : Lane, Bourque, Smith, Howard emerges as the playmaker we've lacked here the past few years. It could be a running back by committee as well. I expect Bartholomew to start at FB with Fugate backing him up again this year. Ben is one of the strongest kids on the team, and could emerge like his brother to be a strong senior leader...

Our line will have another year to get into the weight room and another year of SEC experience to propel them into 2012. James, Fulton, Stone, Bullard, Thomas are all solid lineman, but all need to add strength to their game. Bullard will have an entire offseason to learn how to play the center position. James, Fulton, and Stone have all played since they were freshman, but all three lack SEC strength. They were just simply the best we had so they were out there, so I expect that group to be stronger. Richardson could emerge as the darkhorse to watch in this group b/c his potential is through the roof, a truly elite talent...

The group of: Rodgers, Hunter, Patterson, Bowles, Croom, and Howard could be the most talented in college football this year. Assuming Hunter returns to his 2011 form, our starting receiving corps this year could feature 3 future NFL WR... Any QB would go crazy to throw to this group. Now our 4 and 5 WR sets become even more dangerous b/c the defense will be forced to choose who to double team, creating 1-1 situations for our guys. I feel confident in this group to win those 1-1 situations this year. I hope Hunter comes back healthy and the new guys get into the playbook b/c this group could be the spark to help bring us back to being competitive again with the big boys...

QB intrigues me the most on our offensive roster. Bray will start no questions asked, and I hope he can return to the form before his thumb injury. The battle here will be for the back-up position. Worley saw action last year and did not perform terribly, there is definitely potential for him to be a solid QB for us, but Nathan Peterman is a special kid. He has leadership you look for in a QB as well as talent to go with it. His footwork and arm strength are both in the (+) category and if he gets in the film study and the playbook I can see him being our #2 this year, and a star for us down the road.

I agree with everything you said about Peterman but I think Worley will/should be our #2 guy just because he has experience running this offense. Having a guy like Peterman that can sit back and learn, could be huge for him and this team in the future.

I expect 5 heismans this year for the vols

Haha might be setting the bar a little high there... But it is not out of the realm of possibility that a legitimate Heisman contender emerges on the offensive side of the ball for us IMO. This group of playmakers has that type of potential.

I think we could be a real sleeper if we can all get on the same page on both sides of the ball. Youth affected our progress last year, but also should help pay dividends this season as a result.

Left out Rajon Neal at Either RB or WR... Due to our newly acquired depth at the WR position, I could easily see Neal moving back to his original position at RB. It makes sense seeing is how we do not have a concrete starter at RB for fall camp... Lane is everyone's guess to get the first look, but if he can't perform or continues to have injury woes set him back, One or all of: Bourque, Neal, Howard, Hill, Watson will need to step up and contribute. In this league you NEED two quality RB, right now we MIGHT have one so this is a big ? going into 2012 but there is potential on the roster.

I'm so excited for this season. I think there is so much potential and I am glad to have our injured players back. I'm happy about our recruits. I can't wait to sing Rocky Top with all ya'll and drink a four dollar Coke. Heck ferr. GBO.

Where did you get the discount coke? Smokey dog is 7.50 +, Coke has to be 5.

One thing's for certain...our running game can't be any worse than it was last year. I expect some surprises from the ground game this coming season, and surprises of the good variety.

barely any mention of the offensive line.

not that a quality offensive line matters or anything

They will be better little timmy, it's ok don't worry. Will they be all sec? Who knows, but they will be better than this year. Their main focus should be run blocking, pass blocking they were already pretty decent.
