Mishandling of Coaches announcement

Whatever the reasons are that they haven't announced the Assistants it has hurt Tn in the long run. We have had Transfers that could have possibly been convinced to stay, recruits that could have possibly been signed. I know that the CIA top secret plan is running far.to long and just hurting TN.

I’d rather spend a season without some flaky recruits/players and get the right staff in place rather than get/keep these guys in year 1 only for them to transfer in later years because their coaches suck.

There are assistants that have been working since the day JH was hired. Recruits and potential transfers are hearing from them daily. I can promise you that the lack of a formal announcement has hurt exactly zero. Recruits don’t read press releases.
So these kids are just getting cold called by some random dude they’ve never heard of, saying he is a new coach at Tennessee. Hahaha, brilliant strategy.

Some of the new ACs are in Knoxville, and they are working already. Others are on their way. If the HC and the core of assistants who are there can’t convey a convincing message of what the future looks like, I don’t see how the last few would turn the tide.

This.

We are/were not recruiting primarily for this class anyway. They got two in this class, but the rest will come from the transfer portal. Most of their attention is on the next class, and while they need to get busy, it wasn't quite so critical given that they have until at least next December to get them on board.

Hiring coaches and announcing them are two different things anyway. Who knows who was recruiting behind the scenes, and just hadn't been announced yet.

Since they are football players I am sure they are very excited in getting a call from Tennessee coaches. It doesn’t matter if you or I don’t know who the new coaches are. The players will listen and know they are wanted.

if you spend too much time here, like me, you probably already know who some of the 'unofficial coaches' might be and prospects are mentioning these coaches associated with UTK that are recruiting them.

LWSVOL, DeerPark and others mention the work being done so maybe just come back next Tuesday and you'll get more concrete info.

Just to be accurate coach JH said he expected to have all coaches in place by Monday. He didn’t say the announcements would be Monday, he said Danny White was handling that.

Let’s just hire any old MF’er and fill the position like we did with Dooley. That worked out so beautifully. Another stupid VN take.

You have no idea what’s going on and yet you think it’s being handled wrong. UT has said too much over the years and made themselves look bad. Taking a different approach wouldnt hurt.

Pertaining to this situation, let me tell you something that I know to be 100% fact.

I have no clue what’s going on.

How do you know the coaches haven't already been communicating with the players/recruits?

In the long term it won't matter. 4 years from now Heupel's success won't be hinged on a couple of guys that left these past few weeks.

We'll probably know by then if he'll be staying around or if he'll be another failed hire. A few guys this year won't change that either way.

We've got a full boat

There are portions of this fanbase that are absolutely miserable people. Nothing can possibly satisfy them. If the admin does something, it’s wrong. It the admin doesn’t do something, it’s wrong. It would be interesting to see some of these folks critiqued in their day to day job duties the way they critique others......if some of them even have jobs. 🙄

I expect to be as underwhelming by the assistant coaching hires as I was when they trotted Heupel out there. That isn’t to say they won’t be good coaches; just means there probably won’t be name recognition or a track record of success.

I disagree. I think they've handled it very well.

I'd rather take time and get the right guys than rush things. Not enough time to salvage this recruiting class anyway (we took too long on firing Pruitt for that), so better to get things right in the long-term.

The only thing mishandling is this post. The only person hurt by this seems to be you and all of the other impatient Tennessee fans. Lol

Haven't we tried that already?
Lane had a big last name.
So did Derrick.
Butch had a track record of success.
Pruitt was one of the big name assistants out there.

Maybe we don't need to concentrate on someone's name, or if we'll be impressed by it, and focus on getting the best coaches we can get.

Considering all the negative circumstances all over our beloved Vols now I think we'll be lucky to be able to even talk good coaches into coming here now.

If I were a respected coach or even a young coach on the rise I think I'd look all around everywhere for a job to try to avoid Tennessee unless the $$$$ was just too good to pass up.

Our new HC had a pretty good deal going on at his last job so I'm kind of surprised we got him and I believe if we didn't have our new AD that CJH would have passed on us too.

I'm sad to have to admit it my friends but our beloved Tennessee Vols have become just this bad and really nobody wants to come coach here anymore.

We're going to have to fight and crawl our way back up the mountain inch by inch unfortunately.

At least I can still remember the great days when every Saturday morning I'd wake up and no matter who we were playing that Saturday all of us would simply EXPECT to get the WIN.

VFL...GBO!!!

I don't give a rip about announcement time. All I want to do is win and we will have to wait until Fall to see that play out. All will be forgotten about announcing now, then or whenever once the season starts.
