Thought we played hard and physical tonight. We had 75 Yds in penalties to their 9 yds. They brought in 2 tight ends 1st half and ran the ball well on us not because of coaching but because We lack depth and players. We did make adjustments contrary to some on here by bringing the star up but thought our LBs played their worst game. Couple of times safeties got caught looking in the backfield and got beat over the top. Tuttle played well and thought our corners played well enough for us to win. At end of half we held them to a field goal and had a little momentum going into the half with us getting the ball 2nd half. Why would we chance it with 47 seconds left in half with us having the lead?
Thought we ran the ball better than we have all year. 9 out of 12 on 3rd downs against the best 3rd down team (stat wise) in the nation.
May be the only one on here but I saw improvement especially coming off the Bama loss and SC coming off a bye.
The only bad decision I thought QB had was he should of just threw it up on last play and other than that play he played really well..We didn't turn the ball over and thought we had a very good game plan. For all who blame Pruitt for this loss need to go back and study some game film instead of running your yappers on things you have no clue!

Gotta learn to finish. I was pleasantly surprised with Helton calling and OL and JG play minus holding the ball there on last play and of course false start penalties. We got the ball on outside finally and it paid off. You don’t give them more Mo by turning it over in their territory before half, smart play there. When it came down to it, defense let us down. Kept getting gashed by a subpar running team. Agree with it not falling on Pruitt’s shoulders. He put them in place to execute and didn’t happen 2nd half. Although that one hurt, (extra bad bc I live in SC and have to hear it) Button it up, and be ready to snag 3 more wins bc we still can achieve that.

We don’t have players. This squad was weak
Enough to go winless last year and have our worst season in history. Dooleys worst squads didn’t even do that.

Our offensive line has changed every week, they are going to have some issues with false starts. Not saying it’s ok, but it’s pretty easy to explain.

The team started fast and honestly the offense moved the ball really well and play calling looked really good to me. I get the final drive was a failure but JG isn’t turning the ball over and he probably waited too long. That’s good for us during the game, bad when a three man rush embarrasses our backups backup with the game on the line.

I’m mostly disappointed in Jennings and Calloway for the bone headed unsportmanalike penalties that gave Carolina field possition. Those were critical moments the defense could try and get rolling and they put them behind the 8 ball.

The one thing that is costing us these games on the back end of our schedule is the team we shouldn't have on our schedule anymore, but people like the tradition. Too bad it's a traditional whoopin every year now and the physical whoopin is something we never get past enough to win the games we should.

A friend of mine, not a Vol fan, called me after game last night. He said I’ve watched all Tennessee games this year and I’m seeing big improvement in your team. He said Pruitt is a real coach, and next year you’ll see massive improvement. My .02.

I agree to an extent. Everything went against us tonight. It’s a tough loss. But I still think we can for sure beat everyone else on the schedule. Won’t be easy by any stretch.

Why did the defense look so bad 2nd half? It’s not like USCe was running some elaborate offense against us.

I know we didn’t do much stopping in the second half, but its been a long time since I saw our defense make goal line stands like they did in this game. I was proud of them for those stops. Several times the cameras showed our defense sitting on the bench in the second half. They looked dazed and gassed. Pruitt ran up and tried to encourage them, but several players didn’t even acknowledge that he was standing there. Not out of disrespect, but they looked gassed.

This was a tough game for me. But today, the sun came up and I did see progress on both teams sides of the ball. Just a couple of final thoughts;

4th and 7 - Pruitt doesn't respect down and distance. The result of that call was the same as a turnover close to mid-field. There was still Plenty of time left in the game.

Personal fouls and unsportsman-like conduct penalties........One player doesn’t get the fact that his childish actions hurt his team. His teammates need to help him with this.......

4 and 7 was on 35 not midfield. You punt good chance it goes in end zone..you gain 10 yds. We were 80 % on 3rd down conversions good call in my book.

I believe there was a better chance that we could have pinned them back based on our punter’s previous punts. I know Pruitt said that not stopping them was a factor, but who know?

It's NOT the only reason but this is definitely where the lack of talented depth shows up.
Alontae is a talented freshman that makes freshman mistake and when that's what you have to rely on as the starter, it says a lot.

Kongbo wasn't a breakout star but he was the starter for a reason. We tire and rotation is virtually nonexistent. Bentley improved greatly as the game went on and they realized they were just faster than our coverage at some point. While they killed us on the run, being able to just throw down the field and score at will, was the nail in the coffin.

Like many others, I thought we missed an opportunity for points before the half. When the staff looks back over this loss that is one that will bother them. South Carolina was daring us calling timeouts.

This program can not keep losing to Muschamp coached teams. This has got to be the only SEC program that has not beat a Muschamp led team. I've never seen such as average coach act like he supposed to beat UT and gives give no credit.

South Carolina had two weeks to prepare and was playing at home against an evenly matched team. Only Butch Jones loses in those circumstances.

I am thankful I found one reasonable thread today. I really wish everyone would cool their jets. We were an awful team last year who did not even look like we belonged on the field with any SEC team. With essentially the same players Pruitt and gang has us in these games. Imagine when they actually have some SEC caliber players in the trenches. I am extremely optimistic. Sad we did not pull it out last night, but optimistic. Besides, who really wants to attack our coaches for real right now. Flipping coaches has not exactly worked out for us.

USC started wearing us down and they started throwing long more and we couldn't keep up...of course there were many other things I won't go into...a loss and next game up...two cents worth...to go...:D

GO VOLS!
