Maybe the Pac10 officials realized what kind of admission it would have been. What does it say about your conference when you need megaphones to compete with the normal noise in the SEC?

That most people here don't give that much of a damn about football.

They canceled them because they are made of plastic and when the carbon dioxide travels through the mini megaphone it would release gasses from the plastic and further damage the ozone.

I think they cancelled it when it was announced that the megaphones were made out of the Spotted Owl, the Bald Eagle and the Snaildarter.

No, the bald eagle is no longer endangered and it also represents our country's freedom so they actually wanted the mini's to be made entirelay out of bald eagle beaks.

It's true, the Pac10 reversed their decision about allowing the megaphones, which as a matter of fact, I'm happy about as now we can at least show you how much sound we can put out with any other gimmicks.

From my contacts in the Athletics department, the decision was reversed because as an opposing team, Tennessee has the right to file a complaint about noisemakers (much like how LSU had a chance to complain about the cowbells on Thursday for a penalty) and I believe that is what caused the Pac10 to take another look at what exactly constitutes a noise maker.

I heard the Cal fans complained because it was putting too much pressure on them to produce noise and thus violated their first amendment right to free speech. And further stated that they had the right to cheer (or not to cheer) for their team.

Did the ACLU also threaten legal action of the megaphones were dispensed, as doing so would be implying that those in attendance had no choice but to be loud?
