I've always thought college teams that award small helmet decals for noteworthy achievements on the field (Ohio State with their buckeyes and UGA with their bones) was a pretty cool concept and something I'd like to see on Tennessee's helmets. Perhaps a musket mini ball? A small Power T?

Didn't we flirt with helmet stickers one year? Maybe, like, 20-30 (or 40) years ago? I seem to vaguely remember seeing those.

As a kid, I really loved the idea. Back then, UGa didn't have bones. But Ohio State definitely had the buckeyes. And I thought it was awesome.

I also loved the idea of a player having his name on the back of his jersey. I was very jealous that my Pop Warner jersey didn't, heh.

Today I'm less warm on the idea. I wouldn't object if a coach started it up, but it's just another step (again, like jersey names) toward the "individual" and away from the "team" in a sport that is intrinsically team-oriented.

No single step toward "individuals" is a big deal, of course. But you keep pushing that angle, and jersey names turn into helmet stickers for big plays, which morphs into individual press conferences after games, which morphs into fan clubs for individual players, which mo...you see what I'm saying.

So now that I'm older, I really kinda like the no-name jerseys, and find myself preferring the clean helmets with nothing other than the Power T and a stripe down the middle.

*shrug* to each his or her own. :hi:

I get it and it works for teams that I remember doing it (FSU, UGA, tOSU, etc). I just feel that we shouldn’t start it. Our helmets look awesome and I think it’d just take away from it. JMO of course

I feel the same way about the clean look. In fact, I would prefer the helmet stripe to not be so wide. Go thinner - like the traditional classic look. Oh yeah, white socks and black shoes, too.

Uga does white and black for field and classroom work .. always thought that was kinda neat and different from others like the buckeye

No, they rate right up there with the trash can.

Did not know that’s the reasoning behind both colors. That’s cool to do, even if it’s a UGA thing

I always thought the FSU tomahawk was pretty cool but I always liked FSU since they play Florida and especially hated Miami in the 80’s and 90’s.

Don't mess with the helments. Its a team sport. Helments like Ohio st, look like kids were turned loose with crayons. Keep them classy n clean

Instead of adding stuff to the helmet can we take the orange stripe off? I like the all white with orange "T".

No, not for Tennessee.. I think they’re great for high school and the college teams that have it as part of their tradition.

I have it on good authority that Pruitt is pushing for helmet stickers. Since little rifles will offend some SJWs he expects to use banjos instead.

If you'll look above the number 2 on Sutton's helmet there they are. Everyone in this pic has four so I'm not sure if it was individual stickers or one "4 brick" decal sticker...

The helmets look fine and if the player does something to earn a sticker, the fans will let them know. It would make the helmets look terrible.:bad:

LR with logo for Leadership Reps!

or maybe a "black eye" logo for helmet mishaps.

or FC logo for Fulmer Cup participant!

If I remember correctly, the team got a "brick" for each win. It wasn't for individual achievement.
