Milton will start Thursday - 8/30/21 Press Conference

Thanks for bringing this injury up again.

articles and pics have been brought up many times here regarding Milton's previous injury.

to your point, folks don't acknowledge that was probably JM's biggest challenge at UM.

we shall see and the uncleansed will still be negative no matter what the outcome

I agree that the injury last season is a factor in his performance, but it really just makes his capabilities more of an unknown than proving that he is going to be good.

That said, I likewise agree with you that we shall see. My mindset this entire off season has been that this team and coaching staff will either make me happy or piss me off. As I've got plenty of time to be pissed off in the future, I'm just going to choose to be happy now until proven otherwise.

Hopefully Milton gets the job done. He has all the arm talent that you could ask for, and if they've taught him how to put a little touch on his short-to-intermediate throws, then he could really have something. As always, Go Vols.

My favorite post from that board is “Nobody hates Michigan more than Michigan fans”.
The self-loathing in that thread kind of surprised me; reminds me of a lot of Tennessee fans (including myself). I think it might have to do with the fact that they got "their guy" in Harbaugh and seemingly not even he can get them to where they want to be. Out of answers at this point. Michigan fans usually think their s**t doesn't stink.

I’m sure that coach Hype taught our quarterbacks from day one to not look at one receiver down the field. I’m sure that coach Hype taught them to look at everyone while passing the ball. This shouldn’t be a concern going forward. I think we will see a difference from last years offense on that part.

Bailey should have been the guy imo. I ain't sold on Milton at all especially what I saw from last season. Then again its a new year for the kid. Hope he ball out for yall.

I'm always intrigued by the "in my opinion" guys who have seen practically nothing from practices or scrimmages, yet trot out disagreement with the informed decisions of the coaching staff who have been there all along.

It's fascinating.

I want to express my opinion here on who should be the QB this Thursday night but alas the coach doesn’t listen to me… don’t know why?

If Milton doesn't do well in game, then bring in whoever is next. I think this year we have legitimate backups.

Interesting to me that when comparing good-to-great QBs, what often separates the best from the rest are leadership qualities; but when comparing guys like who we have on the roster, all anyone wants to talk about are recruiting rankings and stats.

If Milton don’t get it done.
It will be because of a lingering bad thumb ligament
And Harbaugh hangover
It won’t be Miltons fault
So excuses are set and ready

Mahomes was 3* and mostly got regional interest. He did okay in college and I think he plays on Sundays sometimes now.

Ok, he was named starter for this game. I was just saying it didn’t sound like to me listening to coach that he thought Milton was or wasn’t better than either of the other two just that he thought that Milton could be better if given as many reps
Translating coach speak: "I don't want the other guys to transfer."

He sure couldn't carry the hopes of Michigan football fans.
And? Seriously. He just beat your guy out. Be a Vol fan and support whoever goes out there rather than trashing them. If he flops, UT has two solid guys behind him. He's getting the first shot and the best thing for UT is for him to be GREAT.

Sour grapes?
The excuse for Bailey not beating out JG was Pruitt.
I assume the excuse he didn't highly excel over Maurer and Hooker in Spring was COVID layoff?
The excuse he didn't beat out Milton DESPITE having been here through Spring is ????
