Milton the next Tim Tebow?

To further put that in perspective he probably cried a few million more tears than Dobbs and performed a couple more circumcisions.
Yeah I have cried more than a lot I would imagine, but I was also a boxing champion in college and well, let’s just say I grew from there. Crying doesn’t mean much to me.

That said, circumcisions? I keep reading that lol… what’s that about?

Yep - Milton as the next Tim Tebow is probably a good baseline expectation for us all to develop coming out of the first practices of fall camp.

If he falls short in Game 1, we can then reasonably conclude it is the coaches' fault he didn't achieve our expectations.

We can then paint "Fire Heupel" on the rock!

Love it! It's the Tennessee way!
Lol

Only an abject idiot doesn't recognize that Tebow's throwing motion prevented him from being a serious NFL QB. Tebow had velocity after "all that"... but Tebow needing "all that" makes Milton's arm stronger.

Nowhere by the way did I claim that Milton was as good at all the other things that make a QB great or that he was a comparable runner.... nor is he likely surrounded by the kind of talent Tebow was. And for all that greatness... UF scored 26 ppg vs the SEC in his Sr year.

I happen to like the guy because of his character and testimony. But he was an "unusual" QB. I don't know if Meyer could have corrected his throwing motion or not. But he did him a disservice by not trying.
Tebow was a dink and dunk kind of QB. He finished 16th all time in SEC history with 9285 total passing yards in his career. Hell Chris Leak finished with 11,213 making him 4th on the list. Tim Tebow will always be the greatest passing running back to ever play college football. That is it. He was great at what he did without a doubt. Most certainly a special kind of athlete. With all that said...he simply had garbage mechanics. Not a knock on the guy. It is simply the truth. He had such great weapons around him for most of his career Percy Harvin, Aaron Hernandez, Chris Rainey, Riley Cooper....he would under throw them and they'd make great catches then run up the YAC yards.

A bit premature to compare with any former great. I just hope he is more serviceable than JG and the other garbage QB’s we’ve seen in orange over the last decade.

I think Milton (If he even ends up being the guy lol) is capable of throwing accurately enough to already be leaps better than JG and his size gives you a distinct advantage on those 3rd and goal short yardage situations where it would be nice to have a big tank to just get the snap and drive through to get a TD.

Yeah all jokes and schticks aside, worst case if Milton isn’t a slight improvement over JG, it’s already time to start lobbying for Milton’s backup.

Last year at Michigan , Milton's third year of college football, he completed 56.7% of his passes and earned a dismal overall QBR of 124.6. He rushed for 2.5 yards/carry. Also last year, our own JG, completed 62% of his passes and earned an also dismal QBR of 125.4. He rushed for an average of 3.8 yards/carry. So, by comparison, JG had a better year in 2000 than Milton. Not by much, but better. Milton is going to have to show me he's ready for prime time football in his 4th year. JG wasn't.

Yeah but JG led the NCAA in negative yardage TD passes!

Now all Milton has to do is end his career as the SEC's all-time leader in career passing efficiency (170.8), completion percentage (67.1%), passing touchdown to interception ratio (5.5 to 1), rushing yards by a quarterback (2947), and rushing touchdowns (any position).

Should be no problem being that his arm and throwing motion is so much better.

Your jorts must have shrunk in the wash buddy.

You seem a bit tense.

How did all those stats stack up in the NFL ? Or the running stats work for him in the NFL ? He was never gonna make it in the NFL....was my statement. Told many of people who didn’t agree and thought he was best thing ever to come along. Lol He sold tickets and they let him be the man for awhile. But they were hoping he would stick it out and become a TE. Lol QB. 🤔 Hmmm TE. 😳 I’m curious no why don’t you go run down his NFL stats. I’m sure VolNation would love to know those stats.

I have no problem discussing his NFL stats, even though they’re irrelevant to the discussion. In 14 career starts, Tebow threw for 2,422 yards, with 17 TD’s and 9 picks. He also rushed for 989 yards and another 12 TD’s. So Tebow accounted for 29 TD’s in 14 regular season starts. He was 8-6 as a starter and was the QB for a magical playoff run in 2011 for the Broncos, where Tebow upset Pittsburgh in a playoff game. After that incredible season and playoff run, Tebow was never given an opportunity to start another NFL game as a QB. The only stat where Tebow was significantly below average as an NFLQB was completion %. He was also never afforded an opportunity to improve on that as he was basically done after his only full season as a starter.

Does that somehow make his college career less spectacular? If possible, would you trade Tebow’s college results for Peyton Manning’s while in college, if it meant 2 National/SEC titles and a Heisman for Tennessee? Of course you would. Conversely, I wouldn’t for one second trade what Tebow did at Florida for a long Hall of Fame NFL career.

Stop being a hater and stop living under the illusion that because Tebow didn’t have a great NFL career that he wasn’t one of the best college players to ever do it. He can’t hurt you anymore, let it go..

I hate to agree with a Gator. Tebow was a great College QB. I don't know about trading Manning for Tebow. But I can see the sentiment and understand it.

Funny thing is I never read anything that you just wasted your time writing. Because I know his little NFL story means nothing. Nor does anything that you or any other team fan has to say on VolNation. You’ll never find me tripping on another teams site. There is a life for you out there if you decide to come out of the closet. You sure your not a Tennessee Homer ? My statement is clear....He would never be an NFL QB.!....His NFL dreams were crushed because he wouldn’t be a TE....WAIT he is a QB. Now.? No WAIT he’s a TE. Homer !

Don’t need to, I can find you tripping right here on this one.

Tebow is the greatest college QB of all time and among the greatest college players of all time. The sooner you come to grips with that fact the sooner you can start healing.
