Milton the next Tim Tebow?

I remember having my orange colored glasses on thinking giddy thoughts about Dormady and JG...then games happened. We only need one QB...we've got 4 who check some boxes...can we just get one to step up please? If we're going into next week and we are hearing the typical "no one's separated themselves yet", I may start to get worried. Any optimism I have for the year hinges on good (middle pack SEC) QB play...

Now all Milton has to do is end his career as the SEC's all-time leader in career passing efficiency (170.8), completion percentage (67.1%), passing touchdown to interception ratio (5.5 to 1), rushing yards by a quarterback (2947), and rushing touchdowns (any position).

Should be no problem being that his arm and throwing motion is so much better.
To put that in perspective that is 800ish more rushing yards than Dobbs.

Only an abject idiot doesn't recognize that Tebow's throwing motion prevented him from being a serious NFL QB.

And for all that greatness... UF scored 26 ppg vs the SEC in his Sr year.

Milton will be fine, big strong young man with plenty of talent and good coaching behind him.

Having said that, College and NFL football are filled with QB’s with huge arms and beautified throwing motions. But only an idiot questions the throwing motion of a QB who won two National and SEC titles, a Heisman, Heisman finalist two other times, and finished his career as the SEC's all-time leader in career passing efficiency (170.8), completion percentage (67.1%) and passing touchdown to interception ratio (5.5 to 1). Imagine what he could have done if he had a throwing motion that YOU approved of. And while I could point to some success he had as an NFL QB, nobody cares about that but people looking to knock the man, we’re talking college football here.

And you’re knocking Tebow’s senior year? The year where he went 13-1? The year where, in his final game, he set Sugar Bowl and Florida single game passing records by going 31/35 passing for 490 yards and 4 TD’s? I guess if he had a better throwing motion he would have thrown for over 500 yards in that last game as a senior?

Doesn’t Florida have there own message boards? You could probably start a thread on how you would like to sniff Tebows jock strap over there, and get some people to agree with you.
Any time Florida or a Florida player is mentioned, Jaws is lurking to comment. He's a big Gator apologist and I suspect he hits a lot of the SEC team sites to share his gospel of the gators. Too much time on his hands.

This is the only board I’m on these days. It’s by far, the best of them all.

You’re welcome, Vol Nation.

The thing that makes me happiest about Milton from watching his highlights is that he seems to have very very good pocket awareness. Like he will step up and throw when under pressure. After watching JG for years on end struggle to do this very basic thing and also never seemed to develop pocket awareness....this pleases me to no end. lol.

Last year at Michigan , Milton's third year of college football, he completed 56.7% of his passes and earned a dismal overall QBR of 124.6. He rushed for 2.5 yards/carry. Also last year, our own JG, completed 62% of his passes and earned an also dismal QBR of 125.4. He rushed for an average of 3.8 yards/carry. So, by comparison, JG had a better year in 2000 than Milton. Not by much, but better. Milton is going to have to show me he's ready for prime time football in his 4th year. JG wasn't.

But, but, he only started for a few years in the NFL winning not very deep in the playoffs. Therefore he sucked bc he didn't end up in Canton w Montana. All that suckage takes his college career away too, and vacates the 3 beatdowns against UT. See how that works?

Ooooh, I'm not really a fan of this perspective thing. I'm gonna go back and trust those journalism majors statements from routes on air that indicate we got a nudder Tebow up in the house.

Lol sacked 8 times in 6 games doesnt scream that at all to me. Especially for a 6'5 250 lb qb that has 4.6 speed. He needs work like all the others.

At qb or te ?

Trying to unquiet VN ;)

Yep - Milton as the next Tim Tebow is probably a good baseline expectation for us all to develop coming out of the first practices of fall camp.

If he falls short in Game 1, we can then reasonably conclude it is the coaches' fault he didn't achieve our expectations.

We can then paint "Fire Heupel" on the rock!

Love it! It's the Tennessee way!

Yes. And he still had a bad throwing motion that caused him to wind up and have a low release point. His success is what it is and owes a great deal to the players around him.

Yes. His results are what they are. That O didn't produce a lot of points relative to the talent vs the SEC.

You really need to understand that an objective person can appreciate Tebow and how good that team was without being a glassy eyed teenage girl about it like you.
