milo's official Portland Trail Blazers thread

Last night was rough... The Blazers remind me of the Vols this year. They could either come out and actually win a series no matter who they play (except the Jazz, and don't get it twisted, it was absolutely within their power to beat the Nuggets last night even though Roy was having a terrible night), or come out and get swept.

It's been pretty much the same story all year, though, if Roy comes out hot, then so does the rest of the team. If he doesn't, there's nobody there to pick up the slack and the rest of the team gets lackadaisical at half and does all the wrong things like bringing the ball up the middle, not developing plays, screens/picks, and waiting for the refs to miraculously give them some call they're not earning or for Roy to bail them out.

Couldn't bare to watch the game after the first quarter.

Both teams look like they could get beat by AAU squads tonight, and the officiating was beyond terrible. Howard and Fernandez both got T'd up, and the Mavs were getting roughly 3x as many calls. I heard from some friends that fans were throwing stuff on the floor, but that's unconfirmed.

Pitiful game so far. I shut it off, I'm going drinking instead.

Good first half. I'm not holding my breath, but a win today would give me some sort of hope that the Blazers might have what it takes to win an opening round series.

On an unrelated note, The Daily Dime is officially the stupidest NBA-related column in existence after the latest issue, which didn't even have coach Nate in consideration, let alone top 3 choices for COY candidates. Absolutely retarded.

Blazers woulda lost that if LA made their free throws.

Still, coming out on top in the road in a meaningful game without B-Roy is damned impressive.

I feel really good about this teams chances to win a first round series in a favorable matchup.

You have to feel good. With all of the injuries it's allowed others to get valuable experience and expanded your depth. I think you can contend with 2-7 in the West and of course we're about 2-90 against you guys on the road.

You mean 2-8? :) Blazers in 7th right now and gonna be in 6th if OKC goes down to the Warriors tonight (fat chance).

And I still give us <1% chance against Utah, and and not much more against Denver. NEED to see that Dallas matchup in the playoffs.

You're a tough matchup for anyone. I'll say you end up 7th when it's all said and done.

If that gets us Dallas, I'll take it. Playoffs are not about seeding. They are about matchups.

I'm sure you'd rather have your Lakers playing OKC as a 2-seed rather than SA or Portland as a 1-seed if things shake out that way.

Unless we draw the Suns. :whistling:

That was an AWESOME win last night. The guys weren't even playing above themselves. Got homecourt and the inside track now.

Figured we'd drop the 2nd but this is ridiculous...

Tough to stay in it when Grant Hill and Jason Richardson couldn't miss if they tried all game long.

No... I'm pretty under the weather right now, so I ended up passing out from Benadryl before the game started. I didn't want to but now it seems like a good thing to have happen. Gonna have to listen to the radio to figure out what the F happened.

Took a quick look at the box score, I can give you a guarantee that Rudy Fernandez will not be with the team next season. That's barring a turnaround, we win this series, and Rudy becomes a factor again. For now his performance has been shockingly poor.

Starting a bit of a run here.

Oh, and pre-game word is that Brandon Roy is suiting up for the game tonight. Apparently going to be 3rd on the rotation behind Jerryd and Rudy though.

Good decision. No matter what he'll be around for the start of next season, and if the Blazers lose tonight, the series is virtually over.
