NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - U.S. Senator Bill Hagerty, Sen. Marsha Blackburn, and Gov. Bill Lee demanded that the White House and U.S. Immigration and Customs reverse their plan to release an unspecified number of single adult migrants into Tennessee due to what they believe is continued inaction to secure the southern border.

According to a Tweet from Lee, the three politicians were informed by ICE that they planned to release the detainees in Tennessee while they await court proceedings.

“This is irresponsible and a threat to the safety of Tennesseans,” Lee said in a Tweet.

One ICE estimate found that prior to 2018 human smuggling generated somewhere in the neighborhood of $500 million a year. That revenue may have gone as high as $13 billion in 2021 alone. A lower ICE estimate pinned the revenues between $2 billion to $6 billion per year.

AUSTIN, Texas — Southern border city El Paso has spent just shy of $10 million in taxpayer money responding to the border crisis and giving aid to the tens of thousands of immigrants released onto its streets this year.

Publicly available data on the city's Migrant Situational Awareness Dashboard website revealed that as of Dec. 22, El Paso had spent $9.87 million on housing, feeding, and busing immigrants who illegally crossed the border from Mexico and were released into the U.S. by federal law enforcement.

As members of the group try to pry open the windows, to no avail, one of them grabs what appears to be a 2x4 plank of wood and starts banging it against the door.

However it would not budge since the homeowner latched her front door's deadbolt to its steel frame.

The woman told Melugin that after they failed to get into her house, which she has spent $13,000 upgrading after previous break in attempts, they successfully entered her neighbor's home, but fled by the time Border Patrol responded.

The tense situation comes as waves of migrants continue to arrive at the border, with a gaping hole discovered along the wall near El Paso for asylum seekers to sneak through.

Texas ranch owners living near the southern border say they have been forced to "constantly" arm themselves as they no longer feel safe on their property following several attempted break-ins from suspected illegal immigrants.

Tucson Sector Border Patrol agents arrested an armed human smuggler transporting six migrants near Sasabe, Arizona, shortly before the new year began. In addition, agents apprehended more than 400 migrants in large groups during the past week.

Agents assigned to the Tucson Border Patrol Station on December 29 stopped an SUV suspected of smuggling migrants. During an inspection agents found the vehicle to be over-packed with six migrants, according to a tweet by Tucson Sector Chief Patrol Agent John R. Modlin.

'Every day, drug traffickers are using the waters of our region to ship their lethal positions to America,' he said in his video posted to Truth Social.
