So Trump has reversed his campaign promises to deport all illegal aliens.
He now thinks illegal immigrant farmers are "GREAT".
What say ye MAGA thumpers?
President Donald Trump said in a social media post on Thursday that he is willing to exempt the agriculture and hotel industries from his nationwide immigration crackdown. The surprise move came after executives in both industries complained to Trump about losing reliable, longtime immigrant workers in immigration raids and struggling to replace them.
“Our great Farmers and people in the Hotel and Leisure business have been stating that our very aggressive policy on immigration is taking very good, long time workers away from them, with those jobs being almost impossible to replace,” Trump wrote.

it's just an estimate like they estimate how many illegals cross the border and are currently in the US.How, pray tell, does the government create an estimate of the number of self-deporting illegal immigrants?
I mean... if they're illegal, would the government really have their foreign ID documents in its database?
Spank me and call me Sally, but I don't buy this one bit.
Nice.it's just an estimate like they estimate how many illegals cross the border and are currently in the US.
the gov't is offering $1000 and/or a free flight out of the US to those who self-deport so the number may be based on how many $1000 or free flights have been claimed, Im not sure.
Also the NY Post arthor who wrote that 1 million have self-deported based it on employment numbers:
"However, the author, Andrew Arthur, runs the Center for Immigration Studies and based his estimate on employment numbers:
How effective has self-deportation been?
One way to track the program is by checking employment numbers. One financial whiz cited by the Wall Street Journal calculated a decline in the immigrant population of 773,000 in the first four months of Trump II.
The Washington Post claims 'a million foreign-born workers have exited the workforce since March.' The Post frames this as 'a sign of the weakening labor supply.' Yet the paper also notes, 'Average hourly wages accelerated, rising by 0.4 percent over the month, to $36.24 in May, as earnings continue to beat inflation in a boost to workers’ spending power.'
In other words, with fewer illegal immigrants, businesses have had to raise wages to attract workers.
Even if Arthur's estimate is generous, there's little doubt that hundreds of thousands of illegals are self-deporting."
All Exits Are Open: NY Post Reports As Many as One MILLION Illegals May Have Self-Deported
If you're operating a vehicle on a public road that is at least more often true than not. If you're just standing around merely having an officer ask to check your ID is not necessarily legally compulsory. In the absence of anything suspicious I don't currently believe even "stop and identify" states can compel identification. Of course the rub in that is sort of like the old "A grand jury could indict a ham sandwich." bit...there's more than a little leeway (more some states than others) for LEO to determine what is sufficiently "suspicious".Every law enforcement person I've ever talked to heard on the news says if your asked for id you must produce/show your id.
