Anyone else feel like these two are better picks than the 5 or 6 other guys being floated out there?

oh good. another miles or leach thread.

you must not come here often.

Get with the program. You need at least 10 threads on each topic. If you comment in an existing thread noone sees it and of course, everyone wants their opinion seen.

Those guys get the same knock on them for maybe slightly different reasons. They are both viewed as a bit eccentric to varying degrees.

That's unfortunate in my view. However it is what it is.

For instance, I heard Dr. Jerry Punch talking about Leach and some of it was correct, but the aspects regarding football, like "He doesn't believe in Defense" are just false and they aren't backed up by stats. Further, at the places he's been it takes a while to build, unlike at LSU, but it doesn't seem to be taken into consideration at all. Nobody, before or after Leach accomplished what he did at TTU, and he's already close to being able to say that at WSU.

Is he comfortable putting on a suit and tie and hob nobbing with boosters and media folks, probably not and in the end, according to Punch, it makes him a bad fit here. According to him we want a buttoned up, professional looking, person to represent the University...a guy like Dooley comes to mind, or the son of a law enforcement officer...None of that has anything to do with coaching football.

Right now we are heading towards the worst of all coaching hires for the entire cycle including directional schools and whomever SMU hires to replace Morris. Oregon will probably hire Kiffin at this point.

Is take leach but that ship has sailed. I wonder about all these other "possibles" being thrown out there and wonder if this isn't just the interview process. Am hoping logical minds point to Les over tucker and others...nothing against them.

Weird thing about this search is that we supposedly threw big number at Gundy. Then we didn't want to pay Brohm and not sure deal on Leach. Now we are apparently back in the bargain basement... Gonna get what pay for. If we are vocal with Gundy type money this thing is much less difficult.

That's the problem. We have no strategy. We run around randomly from person to person.

Instead of throwing big money until said no, we talk to a guy no one wants. Then we talk to one whale with 8 million buyout. Then we talk to an up and comer but balk at the buyout. Then get go after an established big fish that's almost a whale. Next, its the Whale. We follow that up with combination of an up and comer and a guy no one wants.

No strategy. No vision. Typical Volunteer Football.

Yeah I heard that yesterday, too. He is probably the 2nd greatest coach in WSU history already, and he is breathing down Mike Price's neck.
